Pinterest question

I love Pinterest and want to start using it as a promotional tool so I don't feel like I am wasting my time on there. Do you think I should use my personal account for this or do I need to create one just for my business and promotion? Here is the link to my Pinterest so you can see too maybe help you decide. Plus, you can follow me if you like and I will return the favor!

Thanks in advance for the help!

Re: Pinterest question

I also love Pinterest! (isn't it addictive?)
Personally, I do pin some of my creations, but I mix it with other stuff...
For example, I'm doing baby toys & accessories, so I pin my stuff on my board called "For Baby" or "Kids Fashion"...I think you don't want to create a board with only your Etsy listings...would feel like spam to me...just pin some of your items here and there on boards were you think they fit!

Here's mine if you'd like to take a look!

Re: Pinterest question

Thanks for asking this. I've been wondering the same. I use my personal account and have a board specifically for my etsy shop. I don't know if it would be better to create a business account. ???

Re: Pinterest question

Yes, pinterest is adicting! Maybe I should add my favorite items in my shop to my style? Also, I really want to get my pinterest out there and have more people follow me, but I don't want to send people away because I pin so much that is unrelated to what most people are looking for (doctor who and food :D). Any suggestions?

Oh, and I am going to go and follow all of ya'll!

Re: Pinterest question

I only have my business account on Pinterest.
I pinn my items as well as other Etsy shops items on different boards.
That way, people would notice which one is mine and which one is other's.

Here is mine:

I pinned all of the above.

Re: Pinterest question

Your not suppose to use pinterest for promotional use, so I think its better to promote on your regular account so the things you have on there are a mix of things you really just like combined with the items your promoting.

This is what I do, too. In addition to a board of my work, which is a small fraction of what I pin, I've created a board of handmade bird items, as they relate so closely to my work. I'm hoping to attract others who also like handmade birds.

Re: Pinterest question

A great tip I heard to getting more followers on pinterest is to leave a comment on pins. It is a great way to get your name out there for more people to see.

Re: Pinterest question

Pinterest has recently changed their terms to allow self-promotion but not spam. A lot of the blogs/twitter accounts I follow now have pinterest for self-promo only. Just to name a few: The Today Show and TreeHugger both have pinterest accounts and pin their articles/segments.

Re: Pinterest question

I am also on Pinterest and this is a lot of great info. I also add the price in the description so if someone does a gift search I might have a chance to show up. I use different emails and passwords for different accounts. I feel safer that way, I always feel if one gets hacked and have the same info on all I could get hacked on everything. Safer than sorry is my motto. But overall I do a mix on my Pinterest boards to draw more interest to my boards.
