Pinterest The new Traffic Generator! -Really?

Hey!
I heard a lot that now Pinerest is The New biggest traffic generator for Etsy?!
Is it really true? Does it work for you?

I'm just wondering why it does not work for me- I don't see any traffic form pinterest in my esty shop stats.

Because Pinterest explicity asks you to keep self promotion to a minimum.... I rarely add my own items, and when I do, I get a repin or two, but not a huge following. I have not found an increase of sales due to Pinterest.

I get about 100 views a day from PInterest, on an item that a stranger pinned back in November. I don't even sell it any more, but there it is, drawing traffic to my shop every day. I bless the person who pinned it!

I have pinned a few of my own items, but don't do it often and it has never drawn many views. For one thing, I don't have many followers, and only 1 of them has ever repinned my items. So, unless someone else happens to catch it on the main page of Pinterest right after I pinned it myself, it is not really seen by many people when I am the one who pins it.

But, Pinterest is so much fun!

I get a view every now and then but nothing to get excited about. I pin my items but leave the price off so as not to appear spammy. Pinterest isn't supposed to be about self promotion so I use it for fun only.

My items will get a few, maybe 10 re-pins. And that ends up being maybe 2 views over htere. I don't know how people make into a huge traffic generator.

I get one or two views every few days, like the others I don't promote myself on there. I do have a board with a few of my things, but only a handful.

There was an interesting thread last week about the terme of service that should make all of us wary about what we post and where we post it.

Honestly, I see Pinterest as something sort of interesting but not enough to spend any large amount of time there.

I tend to think Pinterest is not a good idea for etsy. I will see a familiar etsy item repinned over and over again but people usually repin it to their 'Do it Yourself' board, which means they love it and want to recreate it- not buy it! I have an 'Etsy loves' board where I was pinning other items from shops I loved and a couple from mine, but have stopped pinning Etsy things since everyone wants to just copy it.
I love Pinterest for tutorials and recipes. But I don't think it is a view generator and pretty much a bad idea for promotion. Just my opinion...

I have received one sell from pinterest.
The customer saw a vintage pair of patchwork boots on my pinterest and followed the links to my etsy shop. Cha-ching!

I like it. It makes me keep up on newbie's here on etsy and I like the 'treasury' format.

I get views from Pinterest almost ever day.
A few of my things went wild on Pinterest over the Holidays...and brought in tons of views.
A few of my Ornaments were pinned and repinned over a thousand times and I saw on GA the views were crazy.
I have had a few sales as well which were a direct result of an item or two being pinned.
If the picture of the item is appealing to many...it will get pinned and repinned over and over and since the picture links back to the shop it came from...traffic will come in to glance.
Pinterest has been good to me.
I pin a lot of things from other shops and they get repinned often.

So I really don't know what's wrong - why don't I get any traffic from there?!
I think Mittens should be very popular over the Holidays and winter really is my time since gloves are everything I sell. :D

maybe I do not have adequate photos, although lately I have tried to improve them a lot.

Really don't know how to make pinterest work for me.

I get many views from Pinterest but even more from Wanelo.

Same here, a view from time to time. I think Pinterest is more a self-containted site, it's fun to find new pics to repin and it's fun to have your picks repinned but I very rarely click on one to see the original item.

I get from two to ten views a day from Pinterest, so I think it's works fine for me. I get more looks only from Wanelo and Facebook:)

Only a few views from pinterest. My pictures never ended up in their search engine, so unless people pin the day it is posted - would be hard to find. You may get lucky and have someone pin with a ton of followers, that might led to views. Interestingly, one of my items was pinned to a crafty type, do-it-yourself list, weird because it was a photo of a silversword plant. I was also worried about google/SEO leading people to pinterest instead of etsy.

Wanelo lead to a ton of wanelo likes, but only a few people went to my shop.

View both as a waste of time, and pulled my photos. Trying fb ads next. They will email you with a link for the free ads if you qualify.

There is an etsy team called PinterestPinners. Join the team and everyone pins each others items if you are interested in that :)

I have quite a few followers on there. I have one board with my products and prices that link people to my etsy shop. I havent had any directed traffic. I don't really go on pinterest too much because I dont really underdstand what its all about or how to even use it or pin other peoples stuff...I just dont get it

I think it's another great 'weapon' that you should have as part of your overall marketing strategy - it pulls in some interest for us along with other weapons like Facebook and Wanelo - no sales so far that I've been able to track as a direct result of using Pinterest - but, again, definitely doesn't hurt to use it -

I do not like Pinterest. I got an account there a while back and pinned some items...only a couple of my own. One of my items went practically viral in repins for people's "Do it Yourself" sections, which I was not in love with. I am aware that there are people on Etsy looking for ideas, but at least my items are not being spread about the web for the fact that others think they can recreate them.
I also put a pair of coiled wire amethyst bobby pins up there, and I got way too many repins onto the "Stuff For Kids" section....they are intricate, high quality, NOT for kids. I didn't feel I was giving my work a good reputation. I get a couple views from there per day still, but I do not care much for the site.

I get a few views from Pinterest, but most of my pins are of other shops and websites other than Etsy. I do have a board with My Etsy and My Favorite Etsy shops to help promote Etsy. I like doing them tho......kind of like doing treasuries. :)
