Picasa 3 - what am I doing wrong

At the risk of exposing my lack of computer knowledge - I need help! I recently switched to Picasa 3 after my old free photo editing program went away. I am obviously doing something wrong. I spend a ton of time editing the lighting, etc., of my photos. but then when I upload the photos to etsy they are still the old, dark, original photos.

I'm sure this is easy and I am just missing something obvious, but what could it possibly be?

Are you saving the photos you edited. I use the save as option and name the photo showing the file size, and listing title, so I will recognize it when I am searching for the photo.

Hope this helps. I use Picasa and not saving your edits is the only thing I can think would be a problem.

Thanks Jess. I thought it was automatically saving the edits. That's what it looks like when I am in Picasa. It's only when I go to Etsy that the changes seem to have disappeared. I will try the save as option and see if that fixes the problem.

I use the export option so that I can resize them to 1000 pixels and that saves them perfectly for uploading to Etsy.

Click on the file menu and then choose "Export Picture to Folder". It puts the photos in a folder under Picasa, called Exports. This option also allows you to add a watermark to the photo.

Also, try saving as a .png if you can. Each time you re-edit a jpeg and hit "save" it will degrade some.

Hi Mary,
Picasa doesn't save automatically the edits you made; you have to go back to the " library" and save them there.

You push the export button and then when you get to your listing page and want to add the photos you have to go to the exported file (Picasa>Exports for me) if you upload the pic from the original file, it will still be in its pre-editted stage. I've done that a time or 2 myself!
