Photos with a new light box

I spent some time today finally making a lightbox, and have uploaded some pictures that resulted. I still had to lighten them a bit but I think the result is wonderful. Tell me what you think.

Did you use daylight bulbs or natural sunlight with the box? I can't tell! They look much brighter and the contrast is great.

Leanne, I used daylight bulbs. Even so, I still had to lighten the pictures to make them this bright!

I loooove lightboxes. But even when I take my pics in natural light, I still have to brighten them!

Emily, it didn't cost much. I had to go buy the white plastic sheeting and poster board. I had pretty everything else. Oh, and I bought two daylight light bulbs to go in clip on lamps I already had. I wanted the light bulbs in both lamps to be the same. So I think I might have spent $10. Well, except for the beads I bought while I was out. :)

Excellent! That slight shadow really shows the three-dimensionality.

If your camera is adjustable, you can open the f/stop (aperature) a notch to allow a bit more light and then you don't have to fiddle with the software. I still use software because I haven't figured out how to do it on my camera.

If you want to play around with it, some software will allow you click on the background and it will automatically change it to stark white. Some people really like the look. Personally, I prefer the softer background and think it makes jewelry look more inviting, but that's just me.

The new photo is much easier to see than the old photo! Granted, the items are different... I'm not sure how the white background will look with the light necklace. You want to use a background that contrasts a little with your items.

Thanks Julie. I think I might give a light box a try. I always get so frustrated when I am taking photos. Hopefully it will help. Your picture certainly looks great!
