Photos Look Muted on Etsy

Help!

I do some product photography and I notice that the photos are nice and bright and the colors crisp on my screen when I edit and export them. And when they are uploaded, the thumbnails look nice and bright, but when I look at the larger image on the product description page, the colors look more muted. I am wondering if it is just me, or if someone else sees it too?

I read a long thread about this, but there were so many conflicting opinions on there, that I couldn't figure it out. It is important that my photos look right, so some feedback would be great.

Here is a link to a product that I photographed. When you look at the photos in the description page, and then the smaller thumbnails on the main page, do they look different to you? https://www.etsy.com/listing/127849224/ginger-peach-soy-candle-fruits-and?ref=shop_home_active

All of my photos are exported in sRGB from Lightroom, so the issue seems to be in the upload. Ideas?

Thanks!

I think your photos are fine. I do think the larger picture is more vibrant but it's not that noticeable. It's ironic that you have felt the pictures look different in the thumbnails because I have always thought the same thing. Don't know how to fix it though.

Re: Photos Look Muted on Etsy

I have the exact same issue, so I overcompensate with saturation & contrast before I export so that once they're uploaded to Etsy & have been muted, they're close to what they should look like.

Re: Photos Look Muted on Etsy

They look precisely the same to me. I opened both into two tabs and flicked between and there was no difference. Your photos are very good.
What could be happening is that LDC monitors have a very precise viewing angle and if you're not looking at it from exactly the right direction then you can end up with a gradient of lighter to darker from top to bottom of the screen so that the thumbnail at the top of the screen looks lighter than the big image or vice versa... thats my theory anyway :)

@Dan Lee - what software are you using to export your images?

Re: Photos Look Muted on Etsy

Thanks for the input. The I don't sell the candles, I just do some of her product photography. They are awesome candles, though!! Highly recommended.

I still think I see a difference, but maybe I am too picky. I also wonder if there is a difference between how they look on a PC vs. a Mac, and whether or not it is a laptop. I use a Mac laptop, what are you all using?

Re: Photos Look Muted on Etsy

I use a Macbook Pro Laptop and they look fine to me up close and in the thumbtags. When I look at my items on many PC computers they always seem to look blurred and lack detail. I believe this is just from the computers themselves.
