Personalized note with each order?

I have included a short handwritten note with every order that I ship since I opened up shop, but I'm starting to wonder if it's really worth the extra time. I like the idea of including SOMEthing- is a branded and less personal message that I can print (instead of handwriting) a good idea? How do you all deal with adding that little something extra?

I've been doing the same thing. It really only takes about 10 seconds, and I keep my thank you notes in the same box as my shipping supplies, so I never have to rummage around for them. There's probably a more streamlined way, and when I'm more experienced and more seasoned, I'll probably try to figure it out. But, I'm still new so I'm excited and grateful for each sale, and have trouble not writing a book in each note ;)

I do too! I think it's totally worth the extra time. I think the question you should ask is, how do you feel when you open up a package and a personalized note is included. I know it always gives me a little warm and fuzzy feeling...

I keep various little notes handy (like some that are in my shop). I end up only writing two sentences typically - inlcuding using the buyer's name. I like the idea that it gives - I cared enough about your purchase to give it some personal attention.

I write a thank you note by hand on some really cute cards I got at Target. I also include a discount for a return purchase, but in 4 months not one person has ever used it or acknowledged my card in their feedback. I often wonder if it's worth it as well. Probably not.

I write a little note on the back of my business card and include a returning coupon code. I find it simple, easy, and personalized. I like to do it and I think it is worth it.

Even if you only make 1 out of 50 people feel special with a hand written note, I still think it's worth it. It's like a teacher saying is teaching really worth it? i know that may seem a little much, but you're not going to give everyone the fuzzies with a hand written card, but for the one person you do, it makes it all worth while.

I always include a small hand written thank you note. I think it's part of the charm of buying hand made on etsy - your purchase is coming directly from the artist and that's special. :)

I have been a customer for a while and I really like to see when the seller takes time to write a personal note. Makes me feel like I was well taken care of as a customer :)

I'm working my way through all the cards I've gotten over the years from the Nature Conservancy for donating annually.

I also include a tiny thank you note handwritten and using the purchaser's name. Don't kid yourself- it is very special these days to get something like that and it does matter and make a difference. Please don't stop!

I hand write a note as well. I feel like it makes it personal and individualized. I have note cards that match my business cards. Personally, when I receive Etsy packages I prefer personalized service.

I always write a note and I think it's what etsy is all about...connecting with sellers, kind of like at a craft show. That is why we have a little bio and information about ourselves.

I think what is special about etsy is that most items are handmade or one of a kind made by a real person versus mass produced machine made. adding a special thank you just adds to the uniqueness of etsy and its sellers. I add a short thank you message on the receipt or a small card for every item purchased.

I always write a note, too. I makeand sell mini cards and envelopes, so sometimes I use that. I figure that will give them an idea of some of the other things I sell. Sometimes it's just a pretty piece of patterned cardstock or paper, hand written, folded in half and closed with a ribbon or LeahsHeart sticker. I also always include a business card.

Absolutely essential to write a little thank you.

I always use the person's name and refer to the item purchased. And since I'm really into reusing before even recycling, I keep cards I receive, paper wrappings, etc. and cut out little note-size pieces. I use a stamp of a rose (my shop is TheWildRoses) and write a wee message.
