Payment problem

Dear sellers, I just got my first sale, but it seems to me that something got wrong. The order is still open but I received the confirmation email. Can you please advice what should I do. It is my first online sale and I do not want to mess everything up.

Re: Payment problem

Anna, congratulations on your first sale!

What do you mean with 'the order is still open'?
Your shop shows one sold listing.

Do you mean you haven't got paid yet?
The only payment option I see in your listings is 'other'. So, how do you plan to get paid? Did you contact your customer about it?
Is there a reason you are not accepting the usual payment methods, like PayPal (the best and most secure option) or Etsy's Direct Checkout (of which I am not a fan, but it is used by a lot of sellers)?

Make sure you get your payment before you send out the package!

Re: Payment problem

Thank you so much!

Well when the customer wanted to pay with a PayPal, some unusual thing happened and she could not fulfill the order. Then we decided to pay with other method, which to tell the truth I don't know what is. It seems that my country does not except PayPal payment or there are some problems with it. Direct Checkout payment is not available in my country.

I undertood now that with other payment method she we should contact each other and decide how to fulfill the transaction. Which methods are available in this case? Can you advice me?

Thank you very much for the clarification, I was very confused.

Re: Payment problem

Congratulations on your first sale! I have not had any experience with "other" payment, but searched the forums and found some information on Bank Transfers. Maybe you would like to explore that.

Good luck!

Re: Payment problem

I would be a little concerned about giving out information for a bank transfer. Check with Etsy support and ask them what is done in a situation like yours. I like the idea of the money order then shipping.

Re: Payment problem

Rosemary, I live in Europe (I'm from The Netherlands and now live in Belgium) and direct bank transfers are the normal way to pay bills in our countries. They are completely safe. And should something out of the order happen, the bank will refund your money.
It's not like with credit cards. People have no access to your account once they have your name and account number.

Re: Payment problem

Dear friends, thank you very much for the support and advice.

I have created another PayPal account, the previous one did not work for some reason. So the customer send money via PayPal but to withdraw money PayPal asks me to pay 4 euros. Is it a normal thing? Maybe it happens when payment is not direct through the website.

Re: Payment problem

You want to check out the help pages of your PayPal, since PayPal rules can vary per country.

And don't forget to connect your PayPal to your Etsy shop (do so in your Etsy settings, under payment options), so your customers get directed to your PayPal while making their purchase in your shop (and redirected to your shop to complete their purchase).
