Partial Refund Question

I recently started selling International, and had estimated shipping costs using the Etsy "Price Your Postage" calculator. I shipped my first international package today and it was $4-5 cheaper than expected. I want to refund the buyer the difference, but she paid via credit card (not paypal).

Is it correct that with credit card purchases, you have to refund the entire purchase and then have the buyer re-buy the item (at the reduced price)?

As a buyer, would saving $4-5 be worth the hassle of having to go in and buy the item again?

Hi Bee,

Go to "Your Shop" drop down menu. Select "Finances" and click on "Payment Account". You will see your transactions on the left. Find the appropriate transaction and click on the "Issue a Refund" link. Fill in the appropriate amount of the refund you wish to issue. That is it.

Thanks so much, Maria! I had read somewhere that you could do partial refunds for Paypal transactions but not for CC transactions -- perhaps that was old advice.
