Pantone Color Report (Spring 2013)

Just in case anyone wanted to keep up with this, I though I would post!

http://www.pantone.com/pages/fcr.aspx?pg=21005&ca=4

Quick question: Do you follow the Pantone Reports? I don't check them regularly and I don't go out of my way to use the "in" colors. But I do like to like to take a peek at them every now and then, though for more inspiration than direction. :)

Re: Pantone Color Report (Spring 2013)

Its always nice to know whats in fashion but i think realistically it will take a season or two before it trickles down to mass market level!

Re: Pantone Color Report (Spring 2013)

The spring one has been out there for a while now. The fall report just came out. They're usually 3 seasons ahead. I follow this a lot because I like to know what's going to be out there ahead of time and adjust my colors and rearrange my shop so those colors are on the top of what's trending.

Re: Pantone Color Report (Spring 2013)

I was out in public the other day and noticed a LOT of people wearing a bright peach-y orange color.. Now, I have NEVER been into fashion but I thought it too bizarre that several people were wearing such a unique color, so I actually got to thinking about color trends and whatnot, sure enough I found the same link you just posted and noticed that it was that tangerine color, it must be getting really popular.. but it's a little to far out there for me :)

Deliberately integrated two Pantone palette pieces this season. Emerald: https://www.etsy.com/listing/129356114/science-jewelry-mars-rover-drill-hole?

And some Samba round the edge:

Re: Pantone Color Report (Spring 2013)

Thanks for that, I've noticed that Emerald is getting a lot of attention, and I've got something that could be called 'nectarine' curing at the moment which I'm pretty pleased about :)

Re: Pantone Color Report (Spring 2013)

Huh, it's hard to keep up with the trends, but it's always neat when specific color terms you're already using come into trend. I have some emerald colored crafting supplies for sale so maybe the trend will help me out a bit ;)

Re: Pantone Color Report (Spring 2013)

Definatly helps to see what Pantone is saying. They set the colors for clothing manufacturers, fashion desighers, interior decoraters, paint manufacturers, etc. Go to a department store and see what is on the rack for spring..same colors as Pantone set. Emerald is the hot color this season with tangerine ( last years color) still in play. Great for us to know. We can design jewelry, house hold items etc that will fit well with the current fashions.

Re: Pantone Color Report (Spring 2013)

I don't tend to use the Pantone colors to choose colors for my items. I just pick colors that I love.

But, I do download the swatches to use when I design my business cards, tags, stationery, etc. It makes it easy to find colors that are going to look great together, and I feel like at least my business cards are "on-trend".

I found in my handbag shop that it can be helpful to tag some items with what ever they are calling a certain color. I had some orange iPad Cases that I tagged as Tangerine when Tangerine Tango was the color of the year, and I got lots of hits for it in searches. So, you could tag your bright deep greens as emerald green this year.

It's also just fun to look at what they've come up with. The fall palette is gorgeous!!!!

Re: Pantone Color Report (Spring 2013)

I work part time in retail, and I can tell you that ever since I started paying attention to what the Pantone report I've noticed the colors popping up everywhere in the store.

I tend to use them as a guideline, but I don't follow them exactly. I typically only pick colors that I actually like. This year I like a lot of the pantone colors, so I have quite a few of them in my shop.

Re: Pantone Color Report (Spring 2013)

I always check out the seasons colours and try and add some of the more wearable colours into my designs. I'm glad to hear that tangerine is in as I have a few bracelets incorporating that colour!

Re: Pantone Color Report (Spring 2013)

last year? one of the colors was Honey Suckle Pink, Native American HoneySuckle Pink. I bought a ton of card stock in that hue to make handmade gift boxes for my BoxesSquared etsy shop. I never sold one set of Honeysuckle pink boxes.

I won't do that again.

Re: Pantone Color Report (Spring 2013)

Its so weird to think of a color as being trendy or going in and out of style.... I cant imagine wearing a particular color just because its popular. What makes one color more appealing than another? I guess I just don't get trends.

Re: Pantone Color Report (Spring 2013)

The Pantone colour reports purpose is so that manufacturers can anticipate and coordinate what the demand for colours will be and make more of those dyes/ fabrics/zips/buttons/leather all the materials needed to make fashion items. Or so I was taught at Art School anyway ;)
