Packaging

Okay so how do you beautify your packages? Kraft paper, tissue paper, box, stickers, jute cord... Etc?

Also what kind of freebies do you throw in?

Re: Packaging

I use pretty pre-wrapped (box and lid seperately) and tissue paper inside. At first I was feeling a bit less than environmental about this but then I sat down and decided that if I were to use a nice quality gift box (even though it cost a bit more) customers would be more inclined to use it again and it would be less likely to be added to the land fill. The tissue paper is 100% recycled content and then I wrap it for the mail in 100% recycled kraft paper. I included one of my hand quilled gift tags that coordinates with the box so if it is in fact a gift the package will be complete... I also include a business card and the invoice with a handwritten thank you note.

Re: Packaging

Kraft box plus ribbon- inside, the jewelry is hooked to a card somehow with my website, name, and short description of my business. . .

You can see my packaging in the last photo of this listing:

Re: Packaging

I don't do a lot of fancy packaging. I do try to package everything as safe and securely as possible. I always put my items in a plastic zip top bag, though, in case the package gets soaked. I understand presentation is important for some, but to me it just strikes as wasteful. My frugal nature won't let me appreciate it.

Re: Packaging

I ship the clothing and all of my shawls wrapped in pink and black tissue and ribbons and tucked into a reuseable, lavender market tote. Then I stuff the whole thing into a priority box.
I have a number of pictures that show my wrapping. Here's just one of them with this listing:

Re: Packaging

Because many of my items are handmade crochet, I feel how they are presented adds to the entire feel of the item, so I wrap mine in a beautiful damask tissue paper tied with red organza ribbon, and include a business card and handwritten note with each one. So essentially they come ready to give as a gift if the customer wishes.

From the feedback I get, it is definitely noted and appreciated, and the tissue paper acts as padding for shipping.

I buy my packaging in bulk online, and haven't found it costs any more than investing in bubble wrap or things of that nature.

I think you just have to consider your customer base and what appeals to them as well as what brand you want to give your shop, and then couple that with what you can reasonably afford...

I am approaching 300 sales after being in business less than a year, and have only had positive feedback on my packaging...which is terrific!
