Package lost by USPS

I had a customer contact me yesterday telling me that an order she placed has not been received. She ordered Dec. 3rd; I mailed it Dec. 4th via First Class Mail. It was supposed to go to an address in Maryland. The tracking shows that it was sent to a sort center in Wisconsin and arrived on Dec. 8th. Nothing else in the tracking. It sounds like USPS put it in the wrong bin. But, it should have been corrected long ago.

I haven't been able to get through to USPS today by phone and I can't find my way through their website to request a trace on the package. Has anyone been able to resolve a similar issue? How did it work for you?

If you have trouble navigating the USPS website, contact staff at the post office. Good luck!

Re: Package lost by USPS

You can go here to file a lost/delayed mail claim:
https://www.usps.com/help/claims.htm

If you didn't have insurance, I'm not sure if you can do it online, but the 800# people can help file a lost mail claim too. I can only imagine how long you'd need to wait to speak with a person this week! When you do call, only say 'customer service', say nothing else and expect to repeat your self as least 12-25 times (really!).

I just filed a lost mail claim for a package that hadn't been updated in 4-5 days from the 'picked up' stage. It was magically delivered today.
