Optimizing Item Tags

I'm trying to get my shop more views and sales. Iv'e recently started being more active on social media which has helped a little, but I'm not very visible in Etsy searches either. I tried changing, adding, and enhancing my tags to get my listing to show up in the first few pages but it's not working. How do I make my tags valuable, so that they lead to more business?
Thanks in advance for any help!

Re: Optimizing Item Tags

Hi Allyson,
Have you tried google Keyword planner? You can search tags and keywords you'd like to use for your products and it will tell you how popular they are....It'll let you know if your tags are actually words people are searching or if they're duds.

Google Keyword Planner:
https://adwords.google.com/KeywordPlanner

There are some SEO groups on Etsy teams that are also great to join as they have tons of information on tags, keywords and how it all works.

Hope that helps

Re: Optimizing Item Tags

Yeah, if you join a good seo team, they will be able to help you find great key words.

This team was good.

Another trick I use is that I'll search Etsy for tags I want to use. If there's millions on millions of that item, I won't use it cause I don't want to get lost in the sauce. So I'll try to get a little more specific with my tags, but not so specific that I'll use tags that no one will ever search. So find a happy medium, not too broad and not too specific.

For instance, on this item. I would try, Wrist Lanyard, Multicolor keychain, fishtail keychain, keychain for teens. cloth keychain. thread keychain.

You'll also want to have your tags match your titles as well. This helps in the SEO process.
