I don't mind it. Clicking through bothers me, but it's only because we have to click through so many times to see all the threads; I never saw the purpose of seeing only the five most recent threads. Just because it's recent doesn't mean it's relevant to me, so I always click through to the full discussion page anyway.
Think about it:
The thread "Welcome to the Etsy Success Team!" isn't going anywhere any time soon. Sure, the info is redundant since you have to see it when you apply to the team, and on the team's main landing page. However, how many dingalings come in here and post exactly what the Etsy Success Team rules say not to do? Keeping that as a sticky is another line of defense to help ensure more people are seeing the team rules.
The Etsy Success Newsletter Archive is relevant to us all. We all are here in this team because we want to achieve success on Etsy; that thread is sort of a hub for that. If you're looking for a specific topic that has been covered in a newsletter, that thread is the place to find it. If it's not stickied, it'll get lost and eventually buried, and people will be asking regularly, "Where can I find a particular newsletter?"
The Success Celebration Thread is not my favorite, but dang, you can't deny it's necessary here. So many people are constantly wanting to post their successes and it really clogs up the forum when there are so many individual posts wanting to celebrate individual successes. So the thread is necessary.
The Holiday Think Tank is seasonal and will only be here for a while. I'm finding it's relevant as we're able to bounce ideas off each other early in the stages of planning for the upcoming holiday season. Boot Camp will be coming up shortly and will eliminate the need for the Think Tank thread, but for now, since the holidays are on a lot of our minds, I think having it there as a sticky is great.
And last but not least we currently have the Shipping Station Inspiration thread. This, IMHO, is the least relevant and least reasonable to have stickied, but as a temporary thing I understand why they stickied it. The mods/admin are looking for member involvement on this topic, as happens occasionally, and they won't get it if they post a regular thread and it gets buried before everybody sees it.
It's not like all of these stickied threads are permanent. Some are, and for good reasons. The rest will be gone before you know it. Is it really that big of a deal? I guess I don't see how it's that big of a problem. An inconvenience, sure (unless you do as CrochetGal and Mallory have done and bookmark it--great idea!), but not that big of a problem.
