Old shop, new items! Need help!

Hello!

I opened my shop in the summer of 2011 with the big hair feather bang! I have recently started my shop back up with a new product; Morse code necklaces.

At the time feathers were in demand and I had no problem finding buyers. However, there is not quite a demand for these necklaces, so buyers are harder to find and attract.

What should I be doing differently?
What is great about my shop and what could use some improvement?

You guys are great!
Thanks in advance!

That's the problem with building your shop around something that's only a passing trend--if you don't sell out before the trend passes, you're stuck with items that people may not find interesting anymore. Maybe find something that IS hot right now and go with that! I know Aztec print is very hot right now...

Thank you! I love the new product and would enjoy selling something that isn't a fad. I think I might need to improve my pictures, tags or something else I'm not even thinking of.

I think since your product is SO unique you can really market it from the uniqueness angle! Love the idea of morse code bracelets; I hadn't heard of those before. That's where it gets complicated, though: most people probably haven't heard of it, so you'll have to find a marketing angle that matches something they HAVE heard of so people will find your products. But I find that challenge fun! ;)

Have you thought about typing and printing the words that you're using in the pictures? The handwriting is nice and all, but typed might look a bit more professional and give your photos an edge.

I also looked at your tags and you've got a lot of one word tags; it's usually recommended that you use two and three word tags wherever possible because that way you're able to fit more keywords into your listing and be more relevant to search.

I'd love to see your necklaces on a person, too. It's hard for me to imagine wearing one myself or to have an idea of what it might look like on me without that visual. I agree with Amy about typing the words to make them look more professional.

ETA: since you are now selling necklaces, you might want to update your policies to reflect the change.
