Okay, I'm ready.

I haven't got everything thing done yet that I want to do, but I have been working hard and would like to know what you think. What would you change? Your help would be greatly appreciated. I need to get some sales going here.

Re: Okay, I'm ready.

Quick look...I find it difficult to read the Class A Bags in your banner :-)

I like the variety of bags though!

Re: Okay, I'm ready.

I think a lot of your photos are not 'etsy-ish' etsy/treasuries really love the white background so I would definitely try to take some like that. I think you should definitely keep the photos with models (to show size) but make it photo two

to be specific
http://www.etsy.com/listing/20472589/large-shoulder-bag-purse-nautical-coral

for this bag, all of your photos are either too dark or too bright, do you use any photo editing programs like photoshop? both of those are easily fixed even in free photo editing programs.

your photos are also really close in to the bag, in none of the five pictures can you see the entire bag (what do the corners look like? the back? the straps?)

your title is 'Large Shoulder Bag Purse Nautical Coral Fabric' the first three words in your title are the most important and yours are currently large, shoulder and bag. you should try something like 'blue nautical bag' and then add on things like 'blue nautical bag, large bag with cord straps'

the first few sentences of your description is what shows up in google searches so be sure to check that it describes your whole product (you can see how it shows up when you're uploading or editing the listing)

great job using back links to other items in your shop! make sure you use as many as you can :D

for your comment on florida tax, you can add that in on etsy. it will only charge buyers from florida. I don't remember how to do it but just look around under 'your account'

nobody is going to use 'free shipping' in their etsy search so I would change that to something else. there are a lot of articles out there for coming up with great tags. getting great tags takes a while and you have to keep changing them to find what brings buyers to you and for the season. you can use sites like craftopolis or etsy's shop stats to see what tags are bringing people to you. I like craftopolis more because it shows you what tags bring people to specific items.

Re: Okay, I'm ready.

I really don't know what to do with the tax. I have asked before and not gotten very far.

The law states that you must charge tax to the sales from Florida according to the tax in the area of Florida that they live in.

If I were to charge according to the area in with I am they may get upset because the charge in their area may be cheaper.

I really get confused on that one. Any help?

Re: Okay, I'm ready.

I don't know the answer to your tax question, but here's what I would do:

Etsy is an international marketplace, so your sales to FL are going to be a very small percentage of your total sales. Find out what the lowest FL tax rate is, charge that, then the difference comes out of your pocket. You might have to figure out what the rate is, but unless you're a really large seller, this shouldn't be too burdensome. Confused shoppers do not buy, so you want to make it as simple as possible.

Re: Okay, I'm ready.

i agree with the banner comment...you want them to know who you are.

and watch for shadows in your photos. maybe purchase a light box to get a nice clean background for each photo.

your product looks awesome. you just need to know how to stand out. :)

Re: Okay, I'm ready.

To set up sales tax to be automatically charged to customers from your states, go to your account and then select "Shipping & Payment" under Shop Settings in the left hand menu. That will bring up a screen with tabs across the top of the screen. Select Sales Tax and then pick your state and the appropriate tax rate.

Re: Okay, I'm ready.

I agree with the 'bad banner' because I also had difficulty finding the words, but I disagree that you need a white background. I thought the bags with the blue and black background showed the best and the ones with white backgrounds seemed to disappear. I think your close-ups are too close up, you could do a bit further away shot and use the close-ups to show detail...we are allowed four (?) pics for each item.

I agree that you need something special to get into the treasuries, have a beautiful photogenic girl using your bag. Find a way to make your bags original,...maybe put a fabric flower on your evening bag...jazz it up somehow.

Re: Okay, I'm ready.

I went back to your shop and read the reviews and comments and checked what people bought. That is the way I'd go if I were you, I'd make alot more items, have over 100 items to rise above the other shops. The garters and wedding bags is what I'd make more of if I were doing this. I'd look at the sold bags and make more of those. The bag of Oriental fabric for example, that would be hard to find in stores, so I'd make more of those and the Southwest one...there is a shop in Etsy making nothing BUT Southwest stuff and doing well, so I'd do something like that, but more your style to make it different.

Re: Okay, I'm ready.

I do want to redo my banner and I will work harder this time at making sure that the name comes out clearer. Good thought.

DiReichertsArt , do you mean I am not a beautiful photogenic girl? Darn and I thought I was. lol

Good thought about what to make more of I will try to give that a go.

I will make an effort not to get so close on some of the pics. I have been working of improving my pics and have not gotten all the way around yet but have made a lot of changes.

Thanks everyone. I will keep trying!
