October Shop Goals / September Lessons Learned

Hi everyone!

It's already time to start planning out October's shop goals. So feel free to list your goals for October and your lessons learned for September.

My October Goals:
1. 75+ sales (super lofty, but when you shoot for the moon...)
2. Release my new necklace line
3. Stockpile more supplies for the Holidays

Lessons learned:
1. If the listing isn't broken don't fix it. Sometimes listings with shorter titles and/or one word tags work. I don't know why, but the sales don't lie. Ha! That rhymes.

2. Custom orders are the business! I just need to figure out how to blatantly advertise that I do them....

3. Days off encourage creativity. I can't work 7 days a week. I definitely hit sleep deprivation by day 4. So I have spent all of September taking the weekends off to just create/chill. Great decision. I've created so many designs during these times.

Can't wait to read everyone's goals and lessons.

Lots more inventory!!! Already working on that even if it means losing sleep temporarily! I need to stay off facebook!!

Even though I've been open since late July, I figure I will keep calling myself a 'newbie' until I've reached 20 sales. So, my goal for October is to hit that 20 mark so I can let go of this label I've given myself. Also, to just add international shipping, already!! I swear, I must get over the fear of that. By the end of the week - that is my goal!!

Goals:
*Reshoot some photos I'm not happy with (I'm soooo picky about photos)
*Make a sale FINALLY! (my shop's only been open for a month - any feedback or advice is greatly appreciated)
*List more items/make more pieces

You guys... gals are not going to believe this.. My goal for this month is to... stop adding more inventory.. or at least slow it down a bit.

(This is lesson learned part)
Because I learned something... I am not as organized as I thought I am. I spend too much time looking at my poor excuses of a record of who supplies what. I took 2 days off last week because... my head felt like exploding... literally pounding. And I made quite a blunder on express shipping because I didn't take ample time to check on the correct fee. Costly lesson.

I do have about 70 pieces ready to go live. Just needed descriptions. I guess I'll post them slowly while pulling down the non performing ones. I guess that's my goal for this month. To get things into top shape, myself too seeing how much I start to slack off on my morning workout.

September was my best month so far and I've started making note of the lessons learned and what I need to do for the upcoming months:

*work on my packaging
*keep up on my Facebook posts to keep interest
*get up to 35-40 listings and bring in 2 new designs

i guess it is good to shout your goals rather than keeping them to yourself
they are more real that way

i aim to sell $2000 this month
that is 70 a day
so I will have to list $120ish a day
i think a dollar goal is good for me, as I can crank out sheaper stuff to make a number of sales goal

if a customer asks if I can make one of something that has been sold, make three and send them a pic

Lessons learned
- there will always be slow periods, and traffic/sales will always fluctuate to some degree no matter how much work I invest into my shop.
- as long as I can afford it, it never hurts to list more. I've been holding back on this - no more, though.

October goals:
- 10 sales seems more reasonable as a goal, but I'm also doing a lot of sales this month. so I'm not sure how much I'll have to put my shop on Vacation mode & what that might do to me in searches...
- To simply keep going. I love what I do, and am not hurting for money (yet). It's a blessing that i *can* invest so much time in this business.
- Learn more about effective description writing and continue to learn more about SEO.
- Blog more. Find more topics to blog about, too.
- List a new item every day. I'm constantly making new things but need to get more of it up here (a lot of it I bring to sales). I'm probably well over 500 pieces in my inventory right now. I love that I never have to stop...
