Not quite sure what I am doing wrong :(

I am really struggling to get any views. If I am lucky I get 10 a day. I have changed my shop look 3 times already and I am still not seeing any improvement. I realise it is janurary so things may be a little slower than usual, but it was like this even over the christmas period. I would be very grateful of any advice because I feel as though I have reached a dead end.

Re: Not quite sure what I am doing wrong :(

Hi Emily, your dolls are really cute. I have a few suggestions that may increase the views on your shop:

> Cohesive product photos - a lot of them have the same background, but some do not. I would work on making sure they all are taken the same way. That may improve the appearance of your shop. (Also, a couple of the photos I saw were a bit blurry - go through your shop with a sharp eye on each of the photos and fix the not so great ones).

> Photo background color - I'm assuming that you chose your current background (the beige-y color) because it emphasizes the vintage/upcycled feel of your shop? However, I wonder what they would look like with an antique white background instead...I think maybe that would allow the detail and colors of your dolls to pop.

> Titles - You need to be sure to use 3 of the most important keywords in your product title. Think about what people would search for if they were looking for an item like yours. For example, ragdoll, vintage doll, handmade doll, upcycled, etc. The names you have given the dolls are cute, but nobody is going to search for "opal ragdoll" - I would reserve the name you've given the doll for the description only (or near the end of the title)

> Tags - Try and use more two- and three-word tags. That will help narrow down the search and improve the odds of ranking higher in searches. Single word tags are too broad and generic. The more specific you can be the better. For example, vintage ragdoll, upcycled ragdoll, rag doll, nurse doll, handmade doll, etc.

> Descriptions - The first two lines of your description should repeat at least the first three words of your title (i.e. the most important keywords for that particular product). This will help improve SEO.

> More items! Right now you only have 22 items. I would work on adding more simply because the having more items in your shop increases the chances of showing up in a search and being found by a customer.

Well that was a lot more than I intended, but I wanted to try and help. Good luck!

What Virginia says makes sense to me, too, and I take her advice for myself as well.

Thank you for this opportunity to learn.

Your dolls are about $40 U.S., so I assume they are collectables not play dolls. If that is the case you have to promote to the collectable market. Virginia's advice is very good, but you also need to market and promote yourself outside of Etsy.

Re: Not quite sure what I am doing wrong :(

Hi! Your pieces are wonderful. As has been stated previously, tags/descriptors might be adjusted somewhat ("upcycled," "repurposed," "eco friendly," "art doll", etc...). I also noticed that your "shop title" is the same as your "shop name." It might help if you were to state something like "Handmade eco friendly rag dolls" or something like that. I believe the terms in "shop title" are searchable and this might improve the number of folks who are able to hit on your site. Good luck! Etsy is becoming a bigger & bigger pond with lots of fish -- you will find your niche!

Re: Not quite sure what I am doing wrong :(

I'm glad you all found my suggestions helpful. I'm currently working on opening my own shop very soon and have spent LOTS (and I mean LOTS! lol) of time researching best practices for tags, titles, and descriptions for SEO optimization. Just trying to share what I've learned, hopefully it will help somebody else too :-)
