This is a great place to come for support, input, and feedback! Welcome to Etsy and good luck with your shop! My first impression when I go to your store is that your photos are a bit dark and the purple backgrounds distract from the colours in your jewellery. Good luck! You will find that you are always working at changing and tweaking things to make yourself successful - I am!

Re: Newbie

hey purple panda store!

it's going to be so fun to develop and grow your store and find out what works for you! i know i really enjoy that aspect of this.

for your store i would recommend: (hope this isn't too harsh!)

a different shop banner - this one comes across as slightly old fashioned 9the way the purple fades reminds me of those microsoft word tricks you can do with fonts that nobody uses anymore). it also has an arabic feel to it...is that what you are going for?

natural light in your photos. or at least aim for the exact same light in each photo

the same background for each item. it does the trick of making a cohesive looking shop even though the objects are different. also, use a plain background...this is going to sound random but your first item - in the wood hoops look like they are resting on a magazine image of a woman with her legs spread wearing white undies!

good luck!

Re: Newbie

Welcome. I have a few critiques. The first thing that you'll hear a lot is that for search engines to pick up your items, the first three letters in your listings are the most critical. I would definitely work on your titles. I picked a couple. "The kid in you" is a cute name, but no one would ever type that phrase in while searching for jewelry. Same with "Michelle O Collection". I love that name, but search engines won't know how to find it. I just use general terms (I sell quilts, so I say "Toddler Robot Quilt" and then describe the color, size, etc.).

I don't do jewelry, so I don't know if anyone who does would have anything to say about your display of it, but I think that the darker backgrounds, especially the ones with the wrinkles are distracting.

The good news is that I think you have some beautiful work in your shop and I LOVE your banner and avatar. They are very "eye catching". I think that you are definitely off to a good start, but we ALL had to go back over out listings and do the three word revamp of our listings.

Good Luck and welcome to the team!

Re: Newbie

Welcome to Etsy and the team. You will get awesome, proven working tips here provided that you do the works :-). Everyone gave great tips already. Just this one:

- Policy page needs work. Make it as you go or make it once and tweak along the way. Honestly I rarely read store policies because they are about the same. But I click on the link to see how committed a seller is to customer service/care.

- The shipping fees are not too enticing. Could you do less than $3 per shipment? And additional item shipping fee is quite pricier. You might lose the competitive edge. Customers are drooling :-) over your earrings but they'll think twice about paying $4 for items weigh less than 3 ounces. Seasoned online buyers knows their postage cost.

Opps did I say one? I am sure you'll get more great tips from the team members. Love the illusion necklace. All the very best and happy selling! Have fun...

Re: Newbie

You are going to want to photograph your jewelry in some natural light.
$3 is too much for shipping jewelry.
You need to edit your item names to make them more relevant. The Etsy search notices the first 3-5 words in a title, so your titles need to be something like 'Silver Hoop Earrings' or 'WTF Word Earrings'... Something you think people will be searching for. No one will be likely to search for 'Michelle O Collection', but they'll search for 'Purple stretch bracelet'.
Your photos are really blurry and you need to get them into focus, search for photography help groups.
You need to use more than one photo to show your item. Show your item in different angles, contexts, etc.

Re: Newbie

Ok, this is probably just because I'm a bit of a grammar nerd, but are these supposed to say "baby momma"?

Otherwise, I think everyone's said what I would have said. And the earrings could just be me not getting it, or being too tired to see properly. Either one is equally possible.

Re: Newbie

Baby mama might work a bit better, too.
I'm curious as to why you chose that phrase for your earrings! I like the 'WTF' ones. LOL
