Newbie here, I have a question about receiving feedback

I opend my shop before the Holidays and I have sold 3 items. I did make a purchase and left feedback for the seller. My questions are, as a seller do you get to see the feedback? Also, if the customers have not left any feedback do you convo them and request it? I would like to know what they thought of the products they bought.
I'm not sure what the protocol is here.

I asked a similar question yesterday. Here's the thread...

Re: Newbie here, I have a question about receiving feedback

It's considered spam to contact customers to request feedback. Alot of people just don't leave feedback. Mostly only the sellers leave it b/c we understand.

One way I have tried has been to put a very nicely worded note in with each shipment that says I am a small business and that we rely on feedback from our customers, if you could leave feedback for me I would greatly appreciate it. And then offer to fix anything if it did not arrive correctly. Good Luck but don't worry too much over it unless you get negative feedback. You can see it under Your Account -Feedback
Good Luck

Re: Newbie here, I have a question about receiving feedback

Yes you can see feedback that customers have left for you :)

Sometimes customers either forget or don't even know about leaving feedback. I put a little note in my packages to ask them if they wouldn't mind leaving me some along with a big thank you :)

I have sent convos to some on occasion to check that everything's okay and to politely ask if they wouldn't mind leaving me feedback. Everyone has been lovely and I've had no problems :)

Re: Newbie here, I have a question about receiving feedback

It seems like a 50% feedback rate is the norm. I agree with Patty that we are probably more aware of this and remember to leave feedback because we are sellers. Since your feedback percentage is based on the number of feedback and not compared to the number of sales, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Re: Newbie here, I have a question about receiving feedback

Erin thanks for posting your thread. I like the idea of asking buyers to let me know that their package arrived safely. I'm going to add that to the email I send when I ship!

Re: Newbie here, I have a question about receiving feedback

When I sell a product and don't see feedback, I usually just send a convo making sure that they received the item. This sometimes prompts a customer to leave feedback without feeling pressure. I have had good results doing this so far, and it makes it clear that I care about the service I'm providing.

So let me get this clear...convos to customers are against policy but sending a written message with the packaging is okay?
