New Shop, Appreciate Feedback

Hi friends,

I've been struggling here. This isn't my first shop, I've actually got another photography shop where I print on cotton rag paper. However, I've just not had good success there. I have several "favorites" and am in treasuries quite often (I love this and appreciate this support SO much), but I've only made 15 sales in a year. So, I opened up a new shop where I print on regular photo paper instead of the cotton paper that is more expensive. It might be confusing, but I am hopeful that it will attract a larger market. Anyway! if you could look at my shop and give me any sort of feedback, I would appreciate it. And I mean with the descriptions, my profile, anything you can think of! Thank you kindly!!
Here is the link to my new shop, just opened:

Re: New Shop, Appreciate Feedback

Hi,

I am new but some ideas that came to mind for me was maybe to see the prints on a wall framed? I don't know if you have any already mounted, but that could give the buyer an idea of what it would look like finished. Also, I wonder if the second shop could have been another category in your first shop? I would definitely cross reference the shops on each item, saying if you are interested in a more professional look... Or vise versa. Know what I mean? Maybe think about how you are promoting, invest in a feature or do you have a Facebook page for your shop? A blog? A pintrest account? Just thinking out loud of the things I want to start focusing on.... That said I'm still waiting on a first sale, so all my ideas are given with a large measure of humility.... Good luck! All the best!

Cheryl

I appreciate it, thank you so much! I contemplated making another section, but I'm afraid it would get lost in the mix, kwim? I do have a FB page, blog, and Twitter, but they are tied to my first account. Ugh - I need to think about this some more! THANK YOU!! :)

Re: New Shop, Appreciate Feedback

Hi Ana,

Your pictures are beautiful!!!
I also have to say upfront, I'm very new as a shop owner as well, so just like Cheryl, please know my advice is given with great humility as well (I like the way you said that, Cheryl)
I'd say, make sure you have quite a lot more items ( I'm not sure if I'm stating something you already know for a hundred years, so if I am, I'm sorry)
I've noticed that all of the photography shops I like, the ones who have around 150 items (or more) seem to have the most regular business, all the ones who only have 1 or 2 pages of items in their shop, don't have a lot of sales (even though the work they do have on there is really beautiful)
It seems to me that people interested in buying photographs need to see a lot of variety, or they go elsewhere.

Maybe that also makes it easier for people to see what your overall style is.

As for your titles, I think the tags are pretty good, maybe try adding a title that reflects your inspiration for the photo, it gives more of a feeling/atmosphere of being in a story.

Maybe start your description with a tiny little story that you feel in your heart is told by the photo, instead of starting with practical info. (Am I making any sense?), really only has to be 2 sentences, just a setting the scene-kind of thing

I hope this helps you just a little bit. I wish you a lot of business, your photos are beautiful!
