New Shop-10 sales in a month?

Hi all! Just wanted a bit of feedback. I have been open for a month and just made my 10th sale last night (a custom order). Is this good for a new jewelry shop? I am doing a lot outside of Etsy to promote the shop and want to make sure I am on the right track. Any input/feedback is greatly appreciated!! Thank you.

I'd say you're doing great! My first year ended with 12 sales - total. Jewelry is quite a saturated category on Etsy, you're obviously taking the right measures to be seen and to sell. Keep up the good work. Nice jewelry too:)

Thank you, Emma! I am learning a lot and hope to grow this business exponentially. I owned a PR firm for ten years before focusing on my jewelry, so I have a lot of marketing experience to apply to this new venture. I hope it pays off!! Your jewelry is amazing. Love all the colored crystal studs!

Thanks Elizabeth - I researched etsy and the handmade craft market for almost 6 months as I was readying the shop. I feel like I learned a ton and tried to put all of the best practices in play. It is such a tough business, but I am so in love with what I am doing. I can't wait to get in the studio every day when my little ones are napping, sleeping, etc!!

ive just made my shop not long ago and still haven't had a sale. is there anyway to get it to pick up.

I'd say that's pretty dang good. Nearly 100 items within a month is pretty good too!

I would say that whatever you're doing, keep it up but don't necessarily stop there. Stay on your toes!

I'd say you are doing fantastically. I just got my tenth sale today and my shop has been open for over a year. Especially being in jewelry which is a saturated category. Congrats!

That is totally fantastic!!! It took me a month to get my first sale and 2 more months to get my 2nd. With jewelry, its even harder to get sales. Good for you!

Well then, I guess things are going well!! It is so hard to gauge success when you don't have any benchmarks from past experience.

Marisa - I was making jewelry before formally opening the shop. So, I have only added about 20 new items this month. I would love to have the time and funds to make 80+ new items a month. A girl can dream...

I am very impressed and would love to know how you are "promoting outside of Etsy". I think you are doing great. I am also in a saturated market - tote bags and have only had 2 sales in 3 months. Good for you

Nancy - thank you! As far as promotions/marketing, I am on facebook and pinterest (soon to be Instagram). I also have just started reaching out to relevant bloggers and media. I am having a local launch party hosted by friends (they invited 150+ women!) on the 12th.

Craft fairs are next...I am using this time to go to the ones I am interested in and pick all of the seller's brains. I have also been talking with the organizers and attendees. Selling online is new to me - as is the handmade craft business. So much to learn!

Wow congratulations! I've been open for about two weeks now and I've only made one sale so far. I might be a little bit envious of your 10 but I know it takes time. What did you use to research etsy and the craft market other than the etsy seller handbook?

Thanks! Marisa-I did a lot of googling :) I also reached out to three etsy sellers I know personally. I read the handbook multiple times as well as tons of etsy blog articles. I also read three etsy/craft books: Etsy-preneurship, Starting an Etsy Business for Dummies and The Handmade Marketplace.

I also read one book specific to jewelry - Sell Your Jewelry, it was a little too basic for me. Those are just a few things. I am a researcher by nature and needed lots of info to feel confident in this new venture. Good luck!!
