Nervous, but I'm ready for help.

I know my pictures are all over the map. I am in the process of taking better ones. What do you think is key? Should I take pictures with white backgrounds, colored and or patterned paper fabric? Pricing, I do well outside of etsy but on here there is so much talent and competition. Thanks in advance. :)

Re: Nervous, but I'm ready for help.

I would suggest that you find a background that YOU feel comfortable with that shows your items and use that.

Don't worry about patterned or plain, white or coloured. As long as the item being sold is the focal point of the photo you will be fine.

If you are going to used a coloured background though, I wouldn't use anything too bright that overtakes the photo. I'd stay with a softer colour.

I think you are off to a great start. I think just make sure that they are light/bright enough. These ones, I think, may be a little dark.

I like how you have that cute polka dotted paper under your cupcake earrings. But the wood thing the red flower necklace is on makes the picture a little busy.
Looking again i really love the polka dot thing you have going on.

Re: Nervous, but I'm ready for help.

Thank you, I love all things retro, and pola dots. I am going for a retro 50's/60's bakery-kitchen feel. I might have been born in the wrong era. ;) (btw I am in love with that vintage toaster!) Thank you both, I'll try making them cohesive and brighter. Other than picture is it still a mess? ;) I just started this month trying to pull it all together as a brand.

Your banner is very pretty, I'd stick with the same style for the photos.

Just, like Emily said, make sure you open every pic in a graphic progam and brighten it up, people won't click on gray photos. Fotofuze or GIMP are just ones of the free programs out there.

Your polka dots are on their way. :) If they don't arrive check your spam box.
Have fun with them.

I agree with Kim about the soft blue background. It goes well with your shop banner too. I'd use that as much as possible.

Re: Nervous, but I'm ready for help.

Thank you Emily! You are the best! :)
Thanks Kim and Carol it's my grandmothers old sewing table I refinished so its not going anywhere soon. :)
Would it be a bad choice to do flower based stuff on the blue table/background and my food based on polkadots? Or do you want to keep all of your shop photos cohesive?

Re: Nervous, but I'm ready for help.

Yes, just find a background that's consistent and use it for all (or at least the majority) of your photos. Contrary to popular opinion, it does not need to be white, although photos with white backgrounds tend to be the ones that make it to the front page. Depends what your goals are about that, I guess.

Re: Nervous, but I'm ready for help.

I really like the polka dots, and if you use scrapbook paper as backgrounds, you can often find sets or themes with a similar look and feel. So you might have slightly different backgrounds for different items/colours, but overall, the look will be cohesive.
