"I know hubby would be concerned if I'm spending $$$ on listing and making nothing back."
Something to keep in mind also is that all business ventures need startup money. A piece of advice I was given that keeps my fears, worries, and concerns in check is that it takes most businesses three years to be profitable. Three years! Obviously it doesn't have to be that way for a small shop on Etsy with little overhead (you don't have to pay rent for a brick and mortar storefront, or electricity for that storefront!), but when I get discouraged I remember that it takes money and time (and hard work!) to turn a profit, but if you put in what you want to get out it'll be worth it. For the new year I set a goal for myself to produce $500 in product each month; previously I was usually averaging around $250 in product per month, so this goal was a little scary. The real scary part was watching my expenses skyrocket in order to have the materials to meet my new production goals! I've been spending a LOT more money each month than I did before this goal, but it's a risk I'm willing to take in an effort to grow my business. Shooting for the stars is risky--you might miss! But you can't reach the sky if you're afraid to leave the ground.
I like your shop, I like your products, I think there's a viable market for what you have to offer. You just have to stick to it, be confident in your products (and in yourself!), and shoot for the stars :)
