Need sugestion on next step

At the moment I will be declaring my earnings for 2010 on my personal taxes since it was not a big amount.
For 2011 it seems like my shop has an increase in sales and I'm hoping it continues to grow.
I started CuddleCanvas as a part time thing/hobby but I think I can one day make it a full time job.
Right now I only sell online but I'm hoping to expand to selling in craft shows and Boutiques around town.

My question is what kind of paper work should I have ready before I decide to do that.

for example; I'm looking into getting my EIN, Business license for my town..I'm so lost. HELP!

Re: Need sugestion on next step

you really need to look into the requirements of your state and city.

When I got my biz license a couple years ago, it was because it was required that i be licensed in the city where a craft show I applied to was held.

I ended up not doing the craft show, but now had a biz license. So I took the proper steps to set myself up with the state revenue dept (since you have to collect sales tax, etc).

Even though I took a loss the last couple years, I'm still glad I went ligit from day one. I just file a schedule C and A for deductions along with my personal tax form (1040). I also have to file separately (annually, since I dont make much) with the state revenue dept

if you call your local state revenue dept, they're usually very helpful in steering you in the right direction :)

good luck!
