Need some Etsy stats

Does any know the approx number of sellers and buyers registered with Etsy?

I have the May Weather Report but just a couple pieces of data.

I'm finishing up a section of my business plan in preparation to meet with my SCORE counselor this week. Doing a business plan is really making me think and re-think what I'm doing.

I would love to know this too, and not sure where to find this info. I know Etsy has over 13billion items for sale, but other than that, I don't know...sorry. :/

It looks like about 12,500 shops, don't know how many of those are actively selling though. No idea about buyers, you may try searching for press releases or other articles about etsy that are recent, they usually have the number of users mentioned somewhere.

The last I read there are 400,000 shops here.

Thanks everyone. I had also heard that registered users were around 800,000, with the largest percentage being buyers. The 12,500 for shops seems low since Etsy is worldwide. The May Etsy Weather Report states that 688,365 new members had joined, up 935 from April.

I suspect the total number of registered users is much, much higher. Oh well, I'll just have to throw in some generalized language on Etsy background, sellers and buyers.

I can say one thing, doing this business plan with a business counselor is really making me focus on what I should be doing.

800,000 users ! Does it give any info like where (country) most users are from? Am sure it must be USA. But I'd like to know which country other country has more number of active users ;)

I know Etsy was written about in some major U.S. papers, maybe the New York Times if I remember correctly. Also, Handmadology may know or be able to point you int he right direction. I know that the top sellers are from the U.S.

p.s. also I heard that Jewelry is big with Etsy buyers.
