Naming my blog

Hi guys!

I'm happy to say I've been very busy with my dolls! Things are going well and I am absolutely loving every minute!

I want to start blogging. I want a main focus to be the My Gigi Dolls, but I don't want it to just be about the dolls. Naming the blog "My Gigi Doll" would make things simple, but I'm also wondering if it would limit me some. I thought of naming my blog "Melissa Loves Color", giving me a bit more freedom.

What are your thoughts? I only want to maintain one blog.

I think that if the focus of your blog is going to be your shop, then I think you should go with My Gigi Doll. Having personal posts that aren't related to your products on your store blog can help customers connect with you on other levels, so I don't think it would limit you that much.

I like the "my gigi doll" idea. My blog is Adventures in Bloggin' with Rogue Baby, which is quite the mouth full, and I wish I'd thought it through more! I post business related posts, as well as personal posts. I agree with Ariella, your customers will like to connect with you on personal levels as well as business.

I totally get Ariella's point, but I think it might be better to go with a name that isn't just about the dolls. It makes it more personal and less "sales-y" to have a blog that is more personal. I think "Melissa Loves Color" is really cute and easy to remember.

I once read somewhere in one of these lovely Etsy teams that if you are going to blog, then your blog should make you come across as a "blogger who crafts, not a crafter who blogs". It just helps make a better connection with people, which will lead them to your shop. Either way you decide to go, I wish you the best of luck!

Hmmm...you all have such good points that I still am not sure!

Any other input? I think I'm leaning toward "Melissa Loves Color", but don't want it to be hard for people looking for "My Gigi Doll" to not be able to find my blog easily.

I'd be more drawn to Melissa Loves Color.....it would make me curious about your take on design! That way it appeals to a broader range of interests for the reader.

I just started a blog, and opted to not use my shop name. Partly because I have a Tumblr with the title. And I didn't want them competing for SEO reasons.
