My FIRST Negative Feedback!

I purchased three items from an Etsy seller back in January and now it is March I have not received them. I contacted the seller and they "said" that they resent the items and still no package. I then contacted Paypal. The seller responded very rudelike stating that the package was in the mail and to close the case. I did not close the case because I was going to wait for the package to show and thank goodness I didnt close it because it never came. So reluctantly I escalated the claim. Paypal refunded me within one day. I did leave the seller negative feedback which I never do because most sellers correct their mistakes. This one had no intentions to. It is sad I had to go through Paypal. As a seller myself customer service is extremely important. I have been open for quite some time and have never had a negative experience with my customers. It sucks to have my feedbacks tarnished when it was not my fault. Has this happened to any of you? I am so angry!

Which is sad because I don't want that to affect my sales! I have never had a negative from customers because I have always strived for great customer service.

I understand that you are upset, it isn't really right that you were given retaliatory feedback when you did nothing wrong. This is the issue with the feedback system here, I think there should be somewhere that you can at least respond with your side of the issue. Also, since your feedback was received as a buyer it isn't seen but shows in your total. I'm not sure why feedback is private for buyers but that is the way it is.

Maybe you could still try to work it out with the seller....maybe they are unhappy to have a negative as well and you could do a "kiss and make up" to remove the negatives. It's a shame....you had a bad experience and had the right to leave the feedback. I always just go with the no feedback is better than leaving negative feedback and worrying about getting negative in return. The feedback system really needs some revamping.

I took a look at your feedback, and I did not see any negative feedback from the seller. You have only 3 negatives (this is for combined feedbacks left for you as a seller, and feedback you left for others). All three negative feedbacks are the ones that you have left for her, they are left on the same day, and are exactly the same. I think you have left the same negative feedback for each item you did not receive.
I doubt very much that it will affect your sales in any way, since your positives are so high. But if you are worried, you may probably remove two out of three negative that you left.

I think it is a glitch in Etsy that it shows a combined score for feedback left and received, because as a buyer I would not be interested in the feedback you left, only in feedback you got.

It's important for you to have left this feedback to warn other potential buyers of theirs....but not at the expense of your own rating! I would definitely contact Etsy Administration to point out that YOUR feedback Positive % is being affected by you leaving negative feedback for another's bad customer service. That's not right and I wouldn't put up with it! You most definitely tried to get it resolved and you can only do so much.

I did receive three negatives from the seller Etsy does not allow you to view them only me. Although it reflects into my percentage now lowering me to 99%. I did not know I could kiss and makeup. So I have initiated it. I hope they accept. I did leave a message to them about how rude the whole experience was so I just hope we can reverse them so I can get my 100% back :-)

I have had the exact same thing happen. (different seller) Didn't get my ordered items, contacted seller, he kept encouraging me to be patient. Now it's too late to file on paypal (>45 days) He kept denying any responsiblity. I launched the search through the post office, it's un-recoverable. I left neutral feedback, but made it clear he did nothing to resolve the issue. Now he left me neutral and used the kiss and make up ? option. Why on earth would I remove my feedback? He never lifted a finger, he's lucky I didn't leave him negative. He had a moment to recover me as a lifetime customer by offering some solution the first time I emailed him. Unfortunately, the feedback system is really skewed.

I use the USPS, clicknship. Priority has its advantages and free tracking is one of them. As a seller, I always insure items over $5O. Under $50, I ask the buyer if they would like insurance. If they say no, I still have the tracking confirmation indicating that I shipped the item. If item is lost, burden is on the buyer. They new item was being shipped Priority Mail, with tracking, and they had the opportunity to opt in for insurance, which is $1.80 for items under $5o.

Is it worth it to you in time and money to ship without tracking and insurance?

These items were International and insurance was not offered not that I am even familiar with the cost of international insurance. Things do have a risk of being lost in the mail but as business owners we are supposed to offer some kind of solution not just do nothing. I try to fix all issues unless I know a customer is trying to take advantage of me which has happened before. Some people can deal with the fact that the item was lost as long as you seem to care about fixing the issue. They didn't.

I think I'd keep my 3 negs because there is no way I would "kiss and make up" (hate that title with a white hot passion) someone who provided bad service. If they had been concerned and offered to refund or send another, THAT would have had me leaving a positive even though there were problems. I hate the idea of removing deserved bad feedback just to get your(in the general sense "your") feedback back to 100%. I would contact Etsy and see if they could remove the retaliatory negs without you having to change your feedback for them.

(general question) what is the use of the feedback system allows someone that you leave a deserved neg to, to turn around and neg you? Then the "solution" is to KAMU and turn them to a neutral? So people who provide bad service and get a neg can give you one back and hold YOUR feedback rating hostage for better feedback for them? That is additional bad service in my mind that they would turn around and neg you!

You were in the right and have every right to leave negative feedback for such awful service.

Think of it this way: your negative for this seller is a warning to other buyers. Some other potential buyer will appreciate your honesty.

There is no negative feedback left for you?? Even if there was, I would not worry about it, especially if it comes from a seller not a customer.

I've seen several sellers mention they have a different/buying account for just this very reason....maybe something to consider for any future purchases - although I don't think you should HAVE to but it works inside the system we currently have.

PynkKrush, just an FYI. I noticed you have a link directing buyers to your website in your shop announcement and your listings. It's against Etsy TOU's to direct buyers to another website that sells the same items.

That does suck. But I wouldnt worry about it too much. Its not your fault and it will make no difference what so ever to your sales and future business. Some times things happen behond our control...alhtough it is unfair that your perfect score has been ruined because of someone elses poor customer service it really wont make a difference in the long run.

Hi All, I just received my first negative feedback today. I knew the day would come. Can't please everyone even though I am relentless at solving customer complaints. I do after all love my customers. In any case, this particular customer left negative feedback but only marked it negative and left no comments. I sent a conversation to her right away to ask why she left it and what can I do to help. I haven't heard back. It's interesting though. I decided to investigate my buyer since she seems to not want to respond to my request (which is really silly because I most likely would have given a full refund no questions asked. I don't understand people who don't give you a chance to correct the problem if they are not satisfied.) ANYWAY - So I clicked on the buyer to investigate what I could find out about her... Did you know that you can see what feedback the buyers have left for other sellers in the past? Yep you can and you can see their comments. Not to my surprise, this buyer didn't leave comments for others either. Just selected the negative buttons. The other thing I noticed was that this buyer has left 8 feedbacks for sellers, of the feedbacks, 3 were negative and one was neutral. Which means that this buyer is habitually leaving negative feedback without comments. It stinks that we can't see buyer feedback because now that I know that there are buyers who are randomly leaving 50% unhelpful feedback for no reason what so ever, it would help us to gauge how we leave feedback for them. Really there is no incentive to rate feedback on a buyer. In any case, I know Etsy is making improvements to the feedback tool. I saw a post for a survey I missed out on and I am sad about it. Of course now that I have received negative feedback, I now know why so many buyers are complaining about the tool. I think that in the mean time, now that I have more insight on looking at a buyers comments, I will try to head the potential feedback off at the pass by sending a note ahead of time thanking them for their order and not to hesitate to contact me right away if they are not satisfied with their purchase.
