My Etsyversary and a shipping question

One year later with 68 sales and I'm one happy lady. I started off with the goal of selling one item a week! Etsy has opened so many doors for me. My coasters were accepted to be sold at a huge holiday craft fair and I have my own booth at a couple upcoming events. It's provided something of my "own" and even has created a little income. Thanks, Etsy! You are the best thing I've done since turning 30!

On another note, I just got my first international sale to Australia. I always buy my shipping labels through Etsy. Will Etsy walked me through it? Anything I need to know? I usually have the postman pick up my priority packages. Can he pick up international packages or do I need to go to the post office to fill out paperwork? Thanks for your help!

Congrats on the sale! I haven't tried international shipping on here. As far as I know, you'll still need to go to the post office to ship it. They'll be a counter with forms, and you'll have to fill out a customs form. They'll stamp it, and give you part of it back. The other part will be placed on the package. The customs number on there should track it while in the US until it gets to customs and is shipped out.

I have shipped internationally, including to Australia. Be prepared, it can take some time for the item to actually get there! My one package, which was shipped priority, still took the better part of 6 weeks. It got held up in customs I guess. Fortunately, I was way ahead of schedule, so the customer had it in plenty of time.

I go in to the post office to send my international packages. I just feel better about it - making sure I filled out the right forms, making sure there isn't a better way to ship, etc. Eager to hear what works for you with your shipment.

As for shipping internationally through Etsy, if you have already been using Etsy shipping labels, there really isn't much difference.

you simply select the postage class (1st class International or Priority International), enter the weight and description and purchase your label.

If the postman is picking up your packages, then he/she can pick up your international ones as well.

I've now shipped to Canada, USA and Australia and so far, my packages have arrived safely and fairly quickly.

I'm from the UK, so I just use Royal Mail and add a customs label. Sorry not very useful if your not from here.
