I know you are all busy with your holiday sales, promotions, and creations, but if you have a couple of minutes I'd appreciate some feedback, criticisms, suggestions, on my avatar. Do you think it might hold me back that it's neither a photo of me or my work?

yes, I do. I think people want to know what you sell right away. some don't want to both with that one extra click. I think that's just the way it is.

I personally like shop avatars that reflect the shop. My regular avatar is my DD wearing one of my crochet hats I make.

I don't know... It kind of fits with your creations from what I can see. I like when the picture is either intriguing or showcases the products of the shop in a unique way. You have to stand out of the amount of avatars in a discussion. Yours appeals to a specific taste... I like it...

Thanks all for the input.... I have changed mine from my photo to one of my products. I'm brand new and yet to have my first sale.... Hoping Black Friday/Cyber Monday changes that!

@Celine & Isabelle: Thanks gals, I really appreciate that! But....as you may have noticed, I just changed my Avatar. Will probably change it again later, but this will do for now since I love those earrings!

I change back an forth from my photo to a piece of jewelry from my shop. It doesn't really matter either way, but it is fun changing once in a while.

I used to have one of myself and then I changed it to match the banner in my shop. Figuring it might be recognizable as a brand.

My fear with pics of yourself is that if someone doesn't like the way you look, they won't go to your shop.

I agree with that because some of the photos I see are a turn off. No offense to the seller, but sometimes they are wearing something, carrying something or have funny expressions that are offputting for me.

Right. Or more likely, people see a pic and just think "oh, that's not my kind of people." If you know what I mean.

@Harriet & Melissa: OMG, thank you "ladies"! You don't know how much you've helped me with your comments! I'm 63 years old and I have this hugh fear that people might not take my work seriously, knowing that I'm new to this at my "advanced " age. Maybe they will just want to support YOUNG artists. So for a short while I used a photo of myself taken about 7 years ago. But that seemed like such lie! So I went to a photo I took in the Louvre 3 years ago....the damsel on the white horse....which maybe is my alter ego, alternating that with Joan d'Arc. :) <3
