Money orders??

Hi,
I'm based in the Uk and have been asked to accept US money orders as payment. Are these acceptable in the Uk? I've not found a clear answer through Google but fairly much get the impression that even if they are accepted there is a huge charge attached to cashing them. What are your experiences? Thank you

Re: Money orders??

Interesting dilemma, but it sounds very expensive and time-consuming. Perhaps you could ask why the person wants to send you a money-order by snail mail and the cashing expense for you, which you will add to the price she pays.

I would respectfully decline.

Re: Money orders??

Bank issued money orders will be a pain as they are collection items. There are fees and will take time to clear.

International Postal Money orders can be cashed at the post office in most countries for free. I've had many (non-Etsy) customers pay for orders with them over the years.

But it's the 21st century and almost everyone has credit and debit cards. If your prospective customer is some luddite, who is afraid of modern methods you really don't want them as a customer. So I agree with Bev; I'd decline.
