Me Modeling my Work

Hello all,

A while back I had told you I had brought a Polystyrene Head to model some of my work such as headbands etc.

The overall response was shock and horror at my poor white Bald Mannequin

Well today I have been lucky to have a family member take photo's of me wearing my creations in the hope they will look more appealling, ahhhhhhhhh

Would love to know what you think now that my Mannequin PolyAnna has been removed and replaced by me (although at times when can't get someone to take photo's will have to resort to my Mannequin) :-)

Re: Me Modeling my Work

I didn't have the pleasure of seeing the styro head but your items look very pretty on your head!

Re: Me Modeling my Work

Thanks Suzanne :-) I think the fact my Mannequin was White with no hair and eyes open as well as being Polystyrene it wasn't so appealling to some.

So hope that me modelling when I can will improve my shop further and show what will look like when worn

Re: Me Modeling my Work

The photos look much better than what I imagine the white baldy would have! (not that I saw it). Seeing it on a real head gives a much better indication of how the customer would look if they were to purchase the item. White polystyrene can look a little 'clearance - store-y'

Pretty headbands by the way!

Re: Me Modeling my Work

Hi Natasha,
I am not your target market at all, but I do think some of the detail on your lovely pieces is lost in the photos of the hair vines being modelled. I can understand that potential buyers would want to see what the items look like when worn, but I wonder if you would be better keeping these ones as the second listing photo and revert to the close up ones of just the item that you were using before, as I think they are more eye-catching as well as showing off the pieces better.
Good wishes for your shop :)

Re: Me Modeling my Work

I did not get to see your PolyAnna either. But when I read your post I had to take a look. Then I saw the link above, by far your head is prettier then PolyAnna's, LOL. I think anything would be modeled better on live models rather then poly body parts. Your work is lovely and you model them well.

Re: Me Modeling my Work

Thanks Gillian, I personally think the Hair Vines look better modelled in the hair as the first shot but may be wrong

Was does everyone else think?

Thanks for your feedback though Gillian :-)

Re: Me Modeling my Work

I like them but the brick wall behind your head on this one adds too much texture to the shot and is competing with the headband. But the pics on you are so much better than the white styro head that is just a picky point. :)

Re: Me Modeling my Work

I'd suggest still using the styro head for some of the photos, not you main picture of course. I dont mind the styro head, I'd only use it for one demonstration photo
Good luck and Happy Crafting!

Re: Me Modeling my Work

Your photos are very nice when you model them.

But in the few listings I checked, there was no mention of the piece being modeled being a sample and not the piece that would actually be sent.

You may want to include that information in the listings as well.
