Making treasuries

Is there an easy way to make treasuries? I sit in front of the screen looking blank. Do you think of a title first then find what goes to the title? How do you all do it?

I run around hearting lots of cool stuff I find, either in search or combing through my Activity Feed. Sometimes just going through my faves will spur a Treasury idea, other times I find items to fit a specific theme I've got in mind.

The other thing that helps, if you use Firefox or Chrome, is to get the Shmetsy tool - it's the most useful thing in the world.

If I'm doing a treasury for fun, I think of a theme and then find items to match it. I usually start with my fave items and shops, then move to team shops, and then look for new items and shops. I like to feature shops that don't have that much exposure and haven't been in many treasuries. Then I arrange the items in a way that echoes the color pattern and shape pattern of each item until it looks like the items are meant to be together rather than random collections.

Then there are promotional treasuries, which is a bit more challenging. You have to find a link between the items that you're trying to promote.

The only thing I don't like about the prototype is you still have to send the convos manually - with Shmetsy, I just hit the Convo Sender and out they go.

Sometimes i have an idea of a theme or title, but often change it as i go. I collect items together.... by colour or theme & mostly think of the title or story as i go. Quite often this means altering a few selections to suit better once i know for definite what i'm doing it about.

I LOVE making treasuries! I usually get the idea for the treasury theme, and then search for the corresponding keywords in different Etsy categories. When possible, I try to select items from many different categories, and from shops that are new or for some reason not well known.

What I did not think about is sending a convo to a shop owner who was featured. I have relied on the notification that would show up in their activity feed, but many people have it over-crowded and do not actually read it. Will fix that in my future treasuries.

I belong to a prototype team, just type prototype, it is really easy then, as you browse, you can add a listing directly to a treasury
