Mail Chimp

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone here has ever used Mail Chimp, how it works, and their opinion of it?

I'm finally starting to grow an audience on Facebook and at craft shows & powwows and would like to be able to keep in contact with customers via email by letting them know of any upcoming sales, new items or shows I'll be attending. I just don't want to come across as 'spammy', so other opinions would be great!

Re: Mail Chimp

I use it. I have two newsletters for two different businesses I have (my etsy one and a different local one). It is fairly easy to use and the newsletters look nice. It is very customizable. I haven't used anything else to compare with it, but I'm happy enough with it to stick with it

Re: Mail Chimp

I use it and just sent out an eNewsletter yesterday. It's free and pretty easy. Just like every program paid & free it has a few quirks. I used to use VResponse, but that cost. My mailing list is more direct and I can track it easily.

Re: Mail Chimp

I use Mailchimp for two marketing clients as well - I find it an easy to use and very customisable tool - highly recommended.

The main drawback, which is a good one, is that Mailchimp is very hot on data protection, so you will need to make sure that everyone you send your newsletter to has actively subscribed to it - there are options for doing this in their system. If they suspect you're sending 'unsolicited emails' they'll close you down!

The main drawback with this approach is that it can take longer to build your contacts list than you may have anticipated, so I'd recommend doing a good warm up campaign prior to launching.

Hope that helps a little!
Shelley

Re: Mail Chimp

I had recently set up mailchimp for a client friend and then walked her through how to use it. According to my friend, she is grossly impaired with it comes to internet applications. But she has been able to 'master' mailchimp and loves it. There is a slight learning curve but once you get pass that it's easy.

Re: Mail Chimp

I use Mailchimp and really like it. I used the pre-designed templates when I was just learning how to use it. Very user-friendly.
