Logo help

Been thinking for ever now, that I really could use a logo.

Looked around etsy of course, logo makers all over the place and it's the same for the prices.

My ideas for what I should have are Also all over the place. :/

So thought I'd ask you brilliant creative people.
What kinda logo should I have... and any recommendations on who to ask to create it?

Re: Logo help

A lot of it depends on what you sell, but I find what looks best are simple logos, that, rather than having a graphic, have their shop name in a fancier font text. Mine has a description about my shop, and some of my items in the background, but faded so that you can see what I make without it overwhelming the text. Some people put one piece off to the side of the banner, which looks good too. :)

I guess my best advise is not to overdo it. If you use a fancy font, keep the background color neutral and the background itself simple. I really like your currently logo. :) The only bit of critisicm I'd offer to it is to get rid of the refection on your store title, it makes it a little hard to read and it's a bit distracting. I like that you have the rose, and I love the font! :)

As for banner artists, I have no clue who to reccommend, as I made mine myself. Anybody else have any takers on that one?

Re: Logo help

I would go with someone whose style kind of matches yours - their work will appeal to you naturally, so it's not too hard. WinchesterLambourne and Xinkblot here on Etsy both do good work for not too much $, but (like all artists) they have a distinctive style, so your mileage my vary.

Re: Logo help

My logo (avatar) came from my product line from many many years ago.

Its since become the logo for all product lines that we sell, both on Etsy and elsewhere.

I would suggest that you come up with something distinctive that represents you and your business and if possible can be used regardless of what you are selling.

Its all about the branding. Even though I use the logo that I do I've branded the business so that the logo is recognized not only when I'm selling the fiber supplies but also the wooden products and the other lines as well.

Re: Logo help

This is who I went with:

https://www.etsy.com/shop/BrandLand

But I see she only has one item in her shop at the moment. She made my logo just a couple of months ago, so I don't know if her shop is temporarily on hold for now.

You can't see my banner because I'm in the stupid bannerless test right now, but I'm really happy with what she did for me. My avatar is taken from my logo, but you can't see the rest. What I really liked about her is that it was 100% true when she said she will do as many revisions as it takes to make the customer happy. I had an idea of what I wanted, but I had her make quite a few revisions (I'm picky) and she did so without any complaint.

Most of the revisions she did were done in the 2-3 business days that she stated in her listing, but there were a couple that took 1 or 2 days longer and I was in a hurry for it. That was my only complaint.

And she makes 3 versions for you to choose from and then does revisions from there. I would suggest looking at her shop if she gets it going again.

Re: Logo help

Oh, and I didn't have her make lots of revisions because she wasn't getting what it was that I wanted, it was because I had several ideas and wanted to see what they would look like. So it was because I'm indecisive, not because she doesn't do good work.

Re: Logo help

Sorry for all the messages, but a really wild, brambly (untamed) rose would be cool for your logo. Maybe with big glass thorns. :-D
