Listing Variations and How to boost views?

So I have this one item that gets lots of views... at least once a day, someone searches for crochet hair clips and it lands on this item:

https://www.etsy.com/your/shops/MadeWithSweetness/stats/listing/128987254#range=2014-01-28|2014-02-03

I also get lots of relevant searches that lead to my shop, which is awesome, cause it means that my stuff is showing up in the first few pages. Strangely though, my views have been at an all time low :(. I get 1-5 views a day.

I have lots of the same item in different colors, like the crochet clip, is it better to put it in one listing with variation options, or is it better to list them seperately? If I put one listing for each thing, I'll have less items! AHHH!! Any ideas on adding different variations? I really don't want all the time that I invested in reopening this shop go to waste :(.

I think it's better to have more items. You could do a custom hair clip option with the variations available. I did this for my garlands in case someone wants to purchase a custom designed one. Then they can see what colors and materials are available.

Experiment with the tags or title on the listing that gets the most views, look at your shop stats and keywords and you will figure out what you can add to the other listings. -K

Hi, Zainab, at this point you probably need to have separate listings. When you have more merchandise, variations will work fine. I noticed that your shop announcement mentions Christmas and Christmas shipping details--you may want to change to a more generic announcement. Good luck!!

I agree with Kristine you can have variations within the listings. You can also try making some different items too and get creative. The more different items you have, the more tags you can use. I know it is really exciting to focus on your store, but it might be a good idea to focus on making new items. I am focusing on making new and different items for my store with lots of different tags and I have seen a increase in views and faves.

Re: Listing Variations and How to boost views?

please correct me if i got something wrong but you say you get lots of views for the one item mentioned above but in the next sentence you say you get 1 - 5 views a day???
well you can boost your views by promoting on and off etsy but make sure you promote to your target market because you want sales after all and not only people who look....

Re: Listing Variations and How to boost views?

I totally agree with using offsite promotions and there are a lot of great sites that allow you to do that. I use
Facebook - fb allows me to use advertising directed at people of a certain age, living in a certain area of the world, who like the sort of things that I make. Facebook is very good about norrowing it down to my specific target market and it only costs $5 a day and thousands of people see my ad. People can still follow you and engage with you. You can share pics

Pinterest - you can put up pictures of your items on boards for people to see and people can follow you. People can repin things from other peoples boards. If a person wants to know where the item is from or see other things in your store they just have to click on the link.

Wanelo - is a shopping site. People are on there to shop. It is like pinterest and etsy combined. Lots of indie stores and big name stores put their stuff up on Wanelo. People can save items into collections (which are like the boards on pinterest) or make stories (which are like treasuries). It is really fun. People still follow other people and they also follow stores as well. There is not a lot of work involved with this site, just a lot of fun.

Re: Listing Variations and How to boost views?

There is a change you can make to all of your listing titles that will improve views from Google: ALWAYS leave one space before OR after all punctuation. If you don't do this, Etsy removes the punctuation and pushes the adjoining words together for the title that Etsy creates for Google (not visible on the page).

From this listing title in your shop:
"Turquoise Flower Hand Crocheted Hair Clip/Bobby Pin/Alligator Clip"
Etsy creates this title for Google which includes two long words that are not readable for Google searches:
"Turquoise Flower Hand Crocheted Hair ClipBobby PinAlligator Clip"

Place the primary keywords, such as Hair Clip, in the first 45 or so characters of the listing title so that they can be more easily seen by Google.
