Listing Fee after Canceling an Order

It has happened again, and I'm sure it will happen more often once I start listing more patterns... People buy without reading and think they get a finished item for the price of a pattern....
Canceled the transaction, refunded the money.... But unlike other online marketplaces, Etsy does not automatically restore the listing. So it's another listing fee if I want my item to be up again.
I can't find anything about that subject in the help section..... And after having to deal with the issue itself, and spending so much time for nothing, I really don't want to contact Etsy for every $ 0,20 that need to be refunded to me. But over time these small amounts add up, and I shouldn't have to worry about that....
Do you have any advise or maybe know something that I don't....?

Re: Listing Fee after Canceling an Order

The best thing to do is put the word "Pattern" over the picture so it is well advertised that it is not a finished product. That way buyers don't really need to read the description, but will see it at first glance in the photo. Here's an example of what I mean.

A good idea. Thanks, Melissa. It's very clear in the title, but I guess that's not enough... :-)

Re: Listing Fee after Canceling an Order

I definitely suggest writing it across the photo. Honestly with so much SEO keywords crammed into titles now, I barely skim them so it would be easy to miss. Especially since its not mentioned in many of yours until later in the title. The first three words are the most important to me as a buyer because I barely read past them. If it doesn't say it right there, I probably wouldn't realize I was buying a pattern either.

Re: Listing Fee after Canceling an Order

As of now I only have one pattern listed, and the first two words are 'Crochet Pattern".... But for my future listings I will surely take that advise. Thanks.

Does anybody have experience with the refund of listing fees? Sorry, but that was my original question.... :-)

Re: Listing Fee after Canceling an Order

I found this in the Seller FAQ's. I don't know if it helps or not. I've never had to cancel a sale.

"Cancellations process within 48 hours. Your Etsy bill will be credited for the applicable fees, and the transaction will move to the Canceled tab on your Sold Orders page.

You'll receive a receipt from Etsy by email when your cancellation is processed."

Re: Listing Fee after Canceling an Order

Thanks.... Yeah, maybe I'm not patient enough.... (?) The transaction fee got automatically refunded when I sent the money back, as this was a direct checkout sale. But from earlier experiences I must say that I had to pay the listing fee again....
