Like a toddler putting on make up...

So a few days ago I posted some new pictures I was proud of and asked for constructive criticism. I got it :) So i went to picmonkey which was way easy but I fear I over did it on the pictures. Bear with me and my learning curve, and let me know if everything looks blarring and overworked. Thanks for looking too!

The first one looks a little overexposed but the second one is perfect.

HmMM...i don't know what they looked like before...

but i clicked on the first one there....and it's clearly over contrasted or over brightened...or something...

Not bad....but could definitely be better.

There looking better, but not perfect.. what helps me is taking pictures in the morning sun.. and then I only have to touch them up a little in photoshop to adjust the brightness.

Re: Like a toddler putting on make up...

Hi Holly,
I'm not sure if this is the case or not, but when I started using Picmonkey I wasn't putting shadow back into the picture after I had brightened etc. Just thought i'd say as I found it easy to miss :o)

I agree with Sam, it looks like you only turned up the brightness which makes photos look washed out in white. If you turn up both the shadow and the light it increases the contrast and makes for a better photo.

Good luck! Photos are such a pain lol

Re: Like a toddler putting on make up...

I agree with Sam as well... you have to add the shadow back to the photo but then you can "soften" the shadows so it doesn't appear as dark. Photos are really hard... I have many talents but photography isn't one of them. I sometimes take 40 pictures and only 1 will be 'okay'. That being said I use my phone as a camera so I shouldn't be expecting super quality... lol. Keep working at it Holly... you're getting there : )

They definitely need more contrast. If you start with really poor photos, it takes an expert to correct those in a real photo editor, not picmonkey. You could download GIMP for free as a better alternative.

Re: Like a toddler putting on make up...

I just looked at your first pendant. I'm not great at photos, so won't comment on that. I was just wondering if you might want to take a photo of you pendants on a person or mannequin so a prospective buyer could see the acutal size when it is worn and how it lays. Your pendant is a great unique idea, but, partially because of the well deserved price, I would be aprehensive about buying it without seeing how it would fit on a person.

Just an idea.
