Leaving a review timing

I'm having a very small problem with my customers not being able to leave reviews.

I am set to 1 - 2 business days postage. I usually post within one day, first class postage. However when the get the item the next working day, they are not able to leave a review for many days yet. I've realised this is probably costing me a lot of positive reviews because the novelty of having the cool new item will have worn off and they will have forgotten about etsy by the time the option is available :(

I had a really sweet lovely customer message and tell me how much she loved an item, and that she'll write a positive review when Etsy lets her

Re: Leaving a review timing

I really wouldn't worry about it. Only a small percentage of people leave reviews anyway. Out of my 4,000 sales, I have 1,000 reviews. You have a nice start with very positive reviews...and more will filter in over time. I don't believe that the etsy constraint is costing you any positive reviews. And since you have that initial base of positive reviews, new customers can see that you are an upstanding and valued seller. That's all you need reviews for. Don't give it further thought!

Dani,

I experienced that too... I was the buyer and I couldn't leave my review for 5 days or something like that. I wondered what the reasoning behind it was. As a new seller I wish for more reviews also; I tend to think it would help inspire confidence in new buyers, at least initially.

Re: Leaving a review timing

It would be nice that Etsy would not have that time constraint on reviews, but I don't think that is preventing people from leaving reviews.

I honestly wouldn't really worry about if customers came back or not. No news is good news, right? Like other sellers said, not that many people really do come back to leave them unfortunately.

Re: Leaving a review timing

Same problem here.
I'm in Belgium, most of my customers are in the US. Etsy won't let them leave a review untill after 3 weeks! Yet my shipping times are 5-12 days.
I've seen a major decrease in the number of reviews I get.
But on the other hand I get a lot of convo's and e-mails about how they love my products (yet were not allowed to leave a review yet).

I know Etsy wants to avoid fake buyers buying products, leaving bad reviews, and then canceling their orders (yes, this used to happen in the past). But this extended period should only be a couple of days, not weeks.
Etsy however disagrees (or doesn't care).
