January slump?

Anyone else experiencing this? I am assuming it is just because Christmas is over and people are getting back to life :)

In December (even after Christmas cutoff dates) I was getting steady 2-3 orders per day. Now nothing for at least a week...

Just want to make sure it isn't just me!

Re: January slump?

I had my first sale of the year yesterday - a single Valentine's Day card. I've gotten a lot of search views for something that should be in my shop but isn't ( one item has managed to show up in searches). I'm using it a learning experience and I've already noted it for next year. :) In the meantime, I'm working on Valentine's Day and Easter. :)

Re: January slump?

I've had two sales this year which is great. I know a lot of people who have had over 100 sales already this month. I guess we shall wait and see

Re: January slump?

I sold 2 items so far this month (on a montly average of 10), so I'm happy.
But I guess a lot of people are out of money, so soon after the most expensive holidays of the year.

Re: January slump?

This is my third January on Etsy (though not with this shop) and they've all been fairly slow to begin with. Usually I start seeing better sales at the end of the month.

Re: January slump?

I'm not sure what my market is any longer. A lot like my child-like found objects creations, but very little sold through the 2+ years I've had a shop. This is now 3 Christmas seasons with no sales.

Re: January slump?

It has been all over the board for me for the past few years. Definitely want to beat my 2012 number! :-)

This year I've had 2 orders
January 2013 - 0 orders
January 2012 - 5 orders

Re: January slump?

Yeah, it's very slow...I'm hoping it'll pick back up soon. I'm trying so desperately to clear out my shop. :(

Re: January slump?

I had 2 sales in Jan 213 - already 7 this month. I expect my sales to be minimal compared to Christmas, as many of my items are gifts. I'd be happy with a sale/day average. Best of luck to all in 2014!

Re: January slump?

I am not too upset actually . . . using this time to catch up on all my orders as I am swamped right now! Just wondering how it usually is . . . :)

Re: January slump?

Slow here too but I expected it. My items are most often purchased as gifts so I expected a slow start.

It's fine with me though. Due to a major ice storm followed by a couple of snow storms, our Christmas was postponed (hubby works for a tree company working around power lines). We just had Christmas yesterday so it was nice to have some time off to cook, bake, spend time with family, etc.

Re: January slump?

Very slow starting around Dec. 28th. I've had 2 orders compared to an average of one a day. My first January sales for jewelry, so was unsure what to expect. I wasn't sure anyone would buy vintage jewelry for Christmas gifts, but I did get a few...ones that looked new or had a tag on them.

Re: January slump?

I think it is pretty normal to experience a bit of a slower January (compared to December). Unless I have a gift card for something, I'm pretty hesitant to buy anything in the new year.

Just be careful, one way to squander your joy is to start comparing. You have a beautiful shop!

Re: January slump?

I've had 2 sales this month. One item was a custom order, the other (today) was a Valentines item that I just listed today! It was my 100th sale!!

Re: January slump?

My last sale was Dec 30, but I'm fairly new with this shop so I'm not sure what to expect from it yet.

My views and fav's are steadily rising though. It would be nice to get some ideas on how to convert those into sales.

Re: January slump?

My last order was December 29th from a coworker. I so badly don't want to go back to the sales I had before Christmas. My views have gone down too, so I'm getting worried.

Re: January slump?

I actually don't see a ton of increase for the holiday season - on etsy at least. I make more in craft markets that time of year. So far this month I've had one large custom order which is pretty typical. I'm projecting an increase in sales and a larger increase in custom work this year as my name gets out there.

Re: January slump?

Hi all! Sales are low on my end but I am assuming it is because I need to retag my items and promote some more. I opened my shop in September, so this is my first "new year". I don 't really have any other time to compare to.

Re: January slump?

Although my views have dropped slightly since before Christmas, my sales have still been fairly consistent.

January for me is usually just as busy as November and December are.
