... But I'm seriously thinking of changing my shop name this week.

In fact, I have already posted my new banner and updated my announcement and profile to test it out. Please click through and take a look. And then come back here and let me know all the ways that I'm making a mistake.

I actually don't mind the "geeks" part in your shop announcement. You might make it even weirder by adding "zombies" or other cool characters to your list.

I agree- I'm a geek and find no offense :) I also like LitKnits idea of adding fun characters like zombies or maybe humanoids etc. into the list of types of people that will like your shop.

I've loved your shop name since I first saw it and when I saw that you are changing it I thought "oh no!"... until I saw the new name! I love it! And I think it goes WAY better with your bags (which are too awesome) and will appeal more to your target customer.

Keep geeks! Especially if most of your stuff is in geekery. I agree with casacampbell. I think only non-geeks think it's a not so nice term. I think most geeks pride themselves in it :) such as myself

My husband calls himself the king of geeks, which makes me their queen. I have come to love and accept my loyal subjects. :) Even though I content that I hail from the land of nerds. Perhaps it was an attempt to join our nations.

I like Bag Chemistry way better because it fits your style more. Artsibitsi seems cutsey, your bags are no such thing.
Your banner is pretty cool too now, I don't know what the last one looked like, but this one fits your shop very well.
In refrence to the geek terminology, I think it also fits. It isn't deragatory, it is more of a sub culture refrence than anything. I dig it.

Adding some things that are even geekier is a great idea! Stuff that's computer-, science-, or electronics-related would be great. Maybe even bags for word nerds.

See, I don't think you should drop the "geeks" at all. People who are geeks pride themselves on it. And if they don't consider themselves geeks, then they are "men" or "women". Also, why would you drop "geeks" if you're not dropping cyborgs, adventurures etc? Keep it! There is a section in Etsy called "geekery" for goodness sake! It's fine :D

I like geeks, it lets me know that it's stuff I might like, and I do. I'm also a fan of the new name because I think it reflects what you do better and is easier to remember.

Maybe a bit late, but as you can see by my shop name, I take no offense to "geek." In fact, I wear it proudly, as do my geek friends. :D

I like the change. I think it is a better name. You can probably send out convos to some people who have shopped from you before and that you know follow you regarding the name change.

It's weird that the word "geek" has struck some. I would keep it since geek is a popular shop term (as well as geekery). Believe me, people who shop with that term aren't offended - geek is in right now and considered cool. LOL, it's a different kind of geek than those of us who went to school in the 70s and 80s think of:D

I don't think the word 'geeks' is a problem. I just thought it reads better without it and it's not necessary for it to be there. It's just a judgment call, I don't think there's a right or wrong here. Your choice, ArtsiBitsi.

Interesting... I'm accustomed to calling myself a geek so i didn't think it would bother me in your announcement, but it does sound... not so nice. Maybe change it to techno geek or what ever type of geek you were referring to. Or maybe just place geek near the end of the list. Something about it coming between the adults & the children bothers me.

As for the names, I like them both. Good luck with the change!

This is an aside, but some of you might like to know that the original meaning of "geek" is someone who bites heads off chickens in a carnival side show. I like the newer meaning much better.
