Is this tacky?

I am considering putting "goes great with" suggestion/links under the item description in my photography shop linked to other matching/like items in my shop (in hopes to bring in more than one sale from a customer).
Is this tacky or smart? i can't decide lol! Opinions please :)

Re: Is this tacky?

I kinda like the idea. I'm the kind of cutsomer that falls for that kind of thing, plus it keeps your customer in your shop. It's a bit like the big businesses and thier 'if you like x, then you might also like y'. I say go for it, but wait for the more experienced sellers to chime in

Re: Is this tacky?

I don't think that's tacky personally. I've seen that suggestion in some articles I've read recently. I think they called it "upselling". It gets people to look around your shop a bit more! I find it helpful as a customer as well. If I'm interested in an item I'll definitely click on the link to see what else you have that is similar or goes well with it.

I like the idea. To me it seems helpful rather than tacky. Just my two cents. Good luck!

Re: Is this tacky?

I have 2 items in my shop that are a "goes with." They really DO go with each other so why not make the suggestion? Yr proispective customer may be very pleased to "see" the combination through yr eyes if she/he didn't see it through theirs

Re: Is this tacky?

I really do like this idea. I don't know as though we would have ever thought of it (my husband and I). He had the idea of selling matched painted pendants and original sketches, but I really do think that I personally like your idea better. I'll have to mention it to him. Good luck with this brilliant tactic!

Re: Is this tacky?

I think it is a great idea. I sometimes intentionally make, or happen to have, items that would go well together. I mention it toward the end of the description.

It is good customer service. Not tacky at all!

Re: Is this tacky?

Great idea.
I do put links to other sections in my Shop in my descriptions. I am not sure if it helps or not but I thought was worth a try.
Good Luck!

Re: Is this tacky?

Definitely not tacky! It is great marketing, and you will see it done in many of the successful shops on Etsy. As a shopper, I love an easy link like that.

Re: Is this tacky?

I think its a great idea, I worked in retail for a long time and this sort of thing always hepled with add on sales, I think if you put it infront of the customer like that it will work very well- it makes shopping easier for them.

Re: Is this tacky?

I think it is a great idea. I would even add a link that goes back to the item section.

Re: Is this tacky?

Totally not tacky, I would be the person to click it! It give them some thing to compare that item to as well, so they can be sure in a purchase, yet it keeps them shopping in YOUR store. I love that idea!

Re: Is this tacky?

I'd say go for it! I have that option on alot of products on my own website, and it does generate more views and options for the customer. When I shop, I always click on the "you might also like" options. Good Luck!
