Is this against the rules?

I was contacted by message and offered a lower price for one of my items. Is this allowed? It's a sterling silver compote and may be worth more than was offered ($20) for scrap value, so I may say no anyway. Just wondering if this is against Etsy rules.
Thanks!

As far as I'm aware it is allowed and some buyers will do this. I always reply politely and say the item is newly listed and will not take less at this time.

Asking for a lower price is allowed. It's up to you as the shop owner to decide if the lower price works for you. If it's a larger $ order, several items, or a repeat buyer it may make sense for you.

Re: Is this against the rules?

I hate when people do this! I usually just respond with my standard response when folks ask for a discount 'I happily offer bulk discounts on orders of 10 or more of the same item....'

Asking for an item for free or soliciting for donations is against the rules since convo's are supposed to be between buyers and sellers (and these people are neither).
