Is there a way to improve my soap listings?

Hello everyone. I make knitting items as well as bath products, but despite my knitting items never sell, I would like to know in what way could I improve on my soap listings?

Here's an example:

Please let me know if there is something I'm missing or something in my shop that's preventing me from progressing.

Yes, I promote on Facebook and Twitter regularly.

I've always liked your shop Amelia but I'm wondering what Pizza soap or Bacon soap has to do Christmas?

Personally if I'm looking for 'christmas' scents then I'm looking for pine, evergreen, cinnamon, etc .

If I'm looking for soaps such as Pizza and Bacon, I prefer them to look like pizza and bacon though.

When I look for holiday soaps I'm not looking for things like gasoline, dirt, barbeque etc.

I would think that those soaps would be more targeted to the men's novelty market.

I have them as titles and tags to be found by Christmas shoppers as Christmas gifts. I did this with all of my listings.

Maybe work on your titles. For instance, instead of having soap - cola, put "Cola Scented Soap"

I love handmade soap. With that said I do agree with the above thoughts. I also think you can combine your love of soap making and knitting or crocheting into one store. Offer knitted or crochet soap sacks, wash clothes and puffs. People love to exfoliate.

Personally, I don't think it's a good angle for the first picture. You can't tell that it's soap from the image, it actually looks more like an ipod cover or something because from that angle it looks two-dimensional. I think the third image would be a much better first image.

With some of the other images, you can more clearly that it's a three-dimensional bar of soap.

Okay:

Change Titles
Add soap related knitting items
Switch photos to three-dimensional

I just listed this item today for a soap cozy:

Some of it might be the price:

That's a four ounce bar of soap for $8 - unless it's a cold process bar with a lot of exotic oils in it, people aren't going to pay that price. People who shop for handmade soap will pay more for it, but they still want a good value for what they're paying. I know that working with MP isn't easy, but to shoppers, there's a perceived value. CP is worth more than MP. Check out what other soapers are selling their soaps for. My 5 -6 ounce bars of cold process are selling for $6, and that's about what others charge for theirs. There are some that are more expensive, but they're using pricier oils than I am.

You might also want to invest in some good silicone soap molds. There's no consistency in what your bars look like, and shoppers like that. Keep working - you'll get there. I've made soap for years, and I know how hard it is. :)

Re: Is there a way to improve my soap listings?

@Erin - See, I had them originally at their prices by ounce, 2 = $2, 4 = $4, etc. But then a bunch of people said I was undercharging & I need to double my prices etc.

So I doubled the prices to their retail price instead of their wholesale price for all my items since July. And I have yet to get a sale from them since then.

Also, I don't tend to look at the prices of others because some people sale the same items I do for a much cheaper price that doesn't suit me at all.

So right now I'm like, "WTF?! Professionals in financing & pricing say to charge at retail & not wholesale & yet nothing sells at retail for my items." So I've been sticking to my guns for over two months now & I've had no results. It ticks me off.

And I do have silicone molds. But variety is the spice of life & I don't like have every single bar of soap (unless it's in the same batch) to look uniform. That, and my business wouldn't be so "radical" if everything looked alike.

I'm not directing my anger at you Erin. Lol It's just that I can make rent at one weekend show, and yet I get online and I feel like a crap artist. And I've been here for 3 years; one with my very first shop, and two with Radical Works.
