Is the white background too bright?

https://www.etsy.com/listing/118977119/polka-dot-sparkle-tulle-leg-warmers?ref=af_shop_favitem

I used fotofuze on this listing. Do you think the white is too bright? I would love to know your thoughts. Thanks!

Re: Is the white background too bright?

The white can never be too bright.
Do the colours of the leg warmers look exactly like in real life?
Then this picture is perfect!

Re: Is the white background too bright?

It looks really good to me!

The problem I have with white is that I sometimes have to brighten the background to the extent that it's hard to see the colors of my products, this is a problem I am currently trying to figure out what to do with.

But I'd say this example you're showing is really good :)

Re: Is the white background too bright?

I'm not a fan of Fotofuze so I'm going to go against the grain and say, yes, the white is too bright. The problem I have with it is that the contrast is too strong between the white and the bright colors. I don't know that the colors I'm seeing are true.

I prefer a softer white background like you have in this listing. It's much easier on the eyes. This could be a tad brighter without turning into the stark white that Fotofuze creates.

Re: Is the white background too bright?

Everyone seems to be concerned with having a stark white background so they're more front page friendly.

I just plucked this item from the current front page treasury. The soft white background is the same as the example I just posted above and it still made it to the front page.

Re: Is the white background too bright?

It looks really blindingly white to me. That's how it looks on my monitor, anyway. It'll look a little different on everyone's screen. Try to go easy on the photo editing software. It's not a substitute for taking a decent photo in the first place- it's just meant to enhance. :)

Re: Is the white background too bright?

The white isn't too bright, but the shadows are too dark, and don't match. I'm a fan of fotofuze, but it can't be obvious. ( I can be guilty of this pretty often) The third photo looks more natural.

This one on the front page, might have been fotofuze.. then again maybe not. It looks pretty natural! http://www.etsy.com/listing/114443210/4-rustic-wedding-favors-birds-nest-eggs?ref=fp_treasury_10

From what I've seen on the front page its more the natural white or shadowed white that is most popular. Like this one: http://www.etsy.com/listing/103955972/pattern-to-create-teddy-like-hippo?ref=fp_treasury_5

If the photos are too dark with out a brighter background, try using an editing program to change the input levels. Experiment a bit. I have to edit all mine, or use external flash to get the right balance.

Re: Is the white background too bright?

I truly hope nobody changes their photo background colours just for the sake of a little bit of front page exposrue (which does nothing for your business).

My backgrounds are (mostly) completely white, because that is what makes my items look great. And it is not the easiest choice, since it takes a lot of work.

Re: Is the white background too bright?

Thanks so much for the help! Still undecided if I'll change it back or not. It's a tough decision.
