Is my shop reaching its target market, or missing the mark entirely?

Hello Etsy Friends,

Like many of you, I have a target market in mind for my shop. But I cannot be sure if my offerings, branding, and pricing are hitting my target or completely missing the mark. (Low sales in spite of all my promotional efforts make me wonder if it's the latter? Or maybe the market might not even exist?)

If you randomly stumbled upon my shop, who would you expect to shop there? I'm looking for things like approximate age and gender, but also anything else you can offer, e.g., income level, education, location, interests, etc.

I'm really grateful for any feedback and would be happy to do the same for your shop.

To me, Zoey Deschanel fans would frequent your shop :). That person who wants to be a little bit different, a little bit retro, but definitely very clean and put-together. While I appreciate the eclectic nature of your shop, I am not the target market so it's hard for me to say about price point. HOWEVER, just at first glance, to someone who doesn't usually purchase vintage or have very much of a gauge on what things are worth, I think you have a great range of mid to upper priced items but maybe don't have as many of the $10-$20 items that might pull in a brand new customer who isn't willing to drop the $30-$50 right off that bat.

Those are my ideas, for what it's worth! Hope something in there helps you out.

You have the cart before the horse. If, for example, someone's market was 20-35 year old females, why would they want to know people outside of that thought?

Why aren't you just asking members of your target market what they think of your items and of your shop?

Plus, it's a multi dimensional problem. Having the right forum is as important as having the right product. You don't see ad for toys at 11 pm because kids aren't up. Maybe you have low sales because the people in your target market aren't where you are promoting or here.

I would guess a preppy, stylish woman in her 40s or 50s who is fairly budget minded while looking for fashion treasures.

Thanks very much, Jessie, Richard, and Alli Cat. We're a small sampling here, but your feedback is giving me insight that will prove helpful
