Is my photo too creepy?

In this listing http://www.etsy.com/listing/77378477/vintage-ekcoloy-silver-beauty-2-inch (and many of my other listings), when I haven't used all five photos, I like to put in an extra photo at the end advertising my product line and encouraging people to "favorite" my shop. The question is this: I was trying to stifle a laugh in the photo. I want to show some personality, but is it just too weird or creepy? Should I just use my main avatar photo, or should I keep it as it is? I've been stewing over this, and feedback would be helpful.

I am not sure what you are referring to about the weird or creepy part, is it the fact that you are in the picture....oh never mind, I get it, it is about your smile or grimace instead right? No, your photo and grin is not creepy at all, rather I think you have quite a clever marketing mind. Good for you for offering a discount with your picture, I like it a lot darling!

HAHAHA ME TOO, TaraFlyPhotos. I was all, "What, is the lemon creepy? Only creepy if they're going to be LEMON muffins.."

But no, I think it's cute! People like seeing the person behind a shop. It's part of what makes the whole Etsy schtick cool, that there's an actual person back there and not some faceless corporation.

But yeah. The lemon isn't creepy either. I checked.

None of my muffin tins are that clean, and none of them are vintage either....

Now that you mention it, yes, those tins are indeed creepy. As if they've never been used in all these years..... O_o

I think it's great for you to include a photo of you with your products, but why'd you hold back that laugh and smile that wanted to come out so badly? I think it'd have been perfect if you were laughing or had a huge smile in your pic- I mean, who wouldn't want to buy vintage kitchen products from someone who so obviously loves making them available?

Now I get to love this thread, too! Thanks for the full-out toothy grin inducing comments! My husband was taking the photos, and he said something dorky that didn't deserve a laugh, but I laughed anyway. I think he said to hug the items, or something like that. I do love them so! (And my husband, too, not just the small appliances.)

Creepy? Heck no! that's a great image! lends personality to your shop, shows what other things you have to offer . . . oh, wait! there's a word for that! Branding! You're right on target, sister! And I really love the "intro" picture for the pan, love the items you used for scale -- they show how big the product is, are perfectly relevant to the product, and you're images are superbly done! Mad Skills!

I don't think your photo is creepy either but I would suggest you take more photos with some full on smiling. I like the idea of your image in the picture but I also think you should look really happy and enjoying your products. Take a bunch and then look at them two at a time and eliminate the one you like least of the pair - then add another to the one you have left creating another pair. When you get to the end you will find that you have chosen a great shot! This is a great way to go through a bunch of photos to get the one you like the best. Good luck.

Should I change my final photo in my listing to one of them?

I'm thinking the two photos should probably be different, just to keep it interesting. Thoughts?

I like photo 6! I think it would be good for your avatar too, everyone likes a smile :)

Wouldn't it be fun for either your avatar or your last listing photo to be a picture where you just have appliances and other kitchen wares stacked at all different height levels with you just peeking in the middle, surrounded by awesomeness, smiling out all the love you have for the shop you're running? I think it'd be pretty sweet!

The only thing it might be is against TOU - you're not supposed to show items in a listing that are not for sale IN the listing. So, I couldn't show a purse and then put a pic of a cosmetic bag that matches that isn't available in THAT listing.

I vote for not creepy! Although if it was me, I would ask the same question. But actually I think you have a fabulous idea, nice thinking.

You've got a great idea for the coupon code if they favorite your shop. I may just use that to get people to sign up for my newsletter. Hmmm.....
