Is it ok to ask for feedback after an order?

I have sold 6 items now and only 1 has left feedback. I really would like the positive promotion, but hate to be pushy. Plus I would just like to know how they liked my products...Any advice on this one???

I have added this note in my "Info & Appearance" account tab in the "Message to Buyer" text box:

"I strive to offer a very personal shopping experience and am always looking for ways to improve. Therefore I would love to receive any comment or suggestion in that respect ."

I think it is sufficient, I don't want to by pushy either. I imagine a very happy customer would definitely take the time and (small) effort to add a positive feedback.

It is frustrating that the buyers don't leave feedback and to us new people it is so important for us to build our feedback. I have asked before with no response. The buyers send me a convo telling me they really liked my item, but don't leave feedback. I have started to mention that I am off to give them their positive feedback. This way I am hoping they will do the same. Guess we can just hope for the best. :)

I don't request it...
I want them to do it w/out feeling obligated.
I dig knowing that when a customer leaves feedback it is something they willingly chose to do.

Feedback is not required on Etsy. I don't ask - I'm tempted to, but I don't. A lot of people leave their feedback in batches, esp supplies sellers.

And buyers only aren't on here as obsessively as we sellers are. I've gotten FB as long as 2 to 3 months after a transaction.

I create a discount code specifically for feedback. I encourage my customers to provide feedback by offering them a 10% discount on their next order. Once my customers provide feedback. I send them the code to use.

I've had the same issue, when I don't see any feedback given after a month I send a follow-up e-mail [hope you received you items and are satisfied with experience blah,blah] right at the end I do a PS don't forget to leave feedback for your order. And I usually get it. Only had one customer never to leave me feedback.

It looks like we all feel the same way, I will simply be patient too:)

I like the idea of at least a later time follow up...and I suppose "no news is good news"...they would surely contact me if there was a problem, so I will find solace in that they must be happy!

I do the same thing as MsBitty and send a follow up email checking in to make sure they received the item and are happy with it. I just let them know that if they have time I would appreciate feedback. Sometimes I hear back from them and sometimes I don't.

One thing to keep in mind is that new buyers (or even old ones) don't always know about the feedback tool and how to use it. I have told several buyers where to find it and then they were happy to leave feedback for me.
