Is it all in a name?

This is where we can offer and seek advice concerning our shop name.

I created my Etsy shop nearly four years before I ever listed a single item because I was living on the road. It was in a 5am haze that the name 'Tlala' was born. Sort of a joke, since I was always changing the spelling of my first name. Soon after this, I began using the label 'Handcrafted Blessings.' Over the years I became quite attached to the shortness of my shop address and so I procrastinated on changing my shop name to amtch my fb, labels, ect. Now, eeek! Someone else has it. So..... do I change it now to 'HandcraftedBlessing' with no plural, or leave my shop as is? Short, simple and mildly baffling?

I believe shorter will be great for a brand name :)

I feel if you can brand it right it doesn't matter what your name is. I for one like the one you have right now :). It's so unique and "against the grain" which in some instances can give you an edge. I encounter this occasionally because the younger generation doesn't know what gussy up means haha.
In the end stick with your guy feeling, it'll point you in the right direction :)

Someone asked me once before I changed my name, does your shop name tell what you sell as when someone looks for it in a search engine.
He made my mind think and then I changed it, even though I liked the other one better.

Agree that there should be a short and sweet name... I don't think the name has to tell what you do, necessarily, although mine does. Look at major brands... GAP, American Eagle, etc. Just looking at the name doesn't tell you anything. Its how they marketed themselves that we know what they are about.

I agree with the other Kelly on this one - whatever name you choose will be great as long as you promote it, believe in it, and make great items to use it with! Good luck with your decision, it'll all be good =^-^=

BTW. I discovered later that Tlala is actually a really common Middle Eastern name and there are loads of Tlala's all over fb

I don't like Handcrafted Blessing/s. It's one of those that's hard to remember, doesn't stand out, because it's... I don't know, generic? Honestly it makes me think of middle-aged women knitting blankets and scarves. I would think you'd be better off with a name like Tlala because it doesn't already evoke an image in my head. If something evokes an image in your customers' heads it's going to be hard to separate your brand from that image.

I'm voting with everyone. My shop name was default as I am terrible with naming things. Succinctly and all encompassing - stops me dead in my tracks.

Tlal is clever and quick and I like it.

I have to get over the non-descriptive name with avatar representing what we do.

Maybe your avatar could show earrings and a scarf?

My 2 cents. btw I kinda miss the cents key.
