Is April usually dead?

Absolutely nothing happening for me lately.... I don't have anything to compare it to, I'll be here a year in June... I'm trying hard to have patience!!!

I started listing items in my shop in April of last year so I really cannot compare this to April last year, but this April has been disappointingly slow. I know, patience is a hard virtue to come by!

I was wondering the same I'm open for 2 years know but my shop didn't start to pick up until July of last year and didn't stop until March but now is very very slow.

Ive sold more so far than last year in April.
Ive gotten 15 orders.
Sold 17 items.
Im halfway to beating my last months earnings (which I dont think will happen, but Ive double earnings from last year which Im pleased with)

So my april has been good.

I don't know if April is "normally dead" or not, but I have seen several threads started in the forums asking pretty much the same question, with responses split even between those who say, yeah, my sales are really bad this month and those who say they're doing great.

Last April my business was pretty steady, this April it's almost nonexistent. It could be that because so many new shops have opened on Etsy it's so much harder to get found and so those of us who are slow probably need to spend a bunch more time and effort working on our relevancy and SEOs. I thought I had that stuff pretty well covered, but now I think I need to read more and try harder.

Im starting to believe if you dont list at least one to two new things EVERY day you wont get steady sales.

Though if Im wrong - others can chime in.

I find I only make sales when I list new items.

It all depends on what you sell, what people want, what tags you use, what people search, how hard you work, how much people have to spend, and on and on and on.

This has been my worst month ever, and I have been open almost two years.

I keep wondering if Etsy has changed something in the searches. It is like they turned off my front porch light and hung a sign that said CLOSED FOR APRIL!

People were wanting my items a lot and with steady increases over the last year. This January was my best month ever, topping December and more than double last January. February, too, was more than double last February. March was also better than last March, but not by nearly as much. Then in April it's like it all has come to a screeching halt.

I think there is definitely something odd going on recently, and it's just hitting some shops. I wish we could figure out what we all have in common so we might determine the cause and do something about it!

I have got less sales this april, but more revenue. I had hoped to beat last years sales numbers, but still have some way to go. I am not holding out much hope

I've been listing new items, and I'm constantly promoting here and Everywhere....I feel like a robot. I am doing much better selling in a local shop here, which I began this month... I wish I knew what was up...

This month has been good for me... well by that I have had about 10 orders, but they have been for my cheaper items....

I thought Feb and March were bad...April has been worse! Maybe the weather has been nicer than other times and people are spending more time outside??? Either way, that is what I keep telling myself...lol!

I think it depends what your selling. Spring is cleaning' renovating,home improvements, gardening ect...

My shop is getting the most traffic ever this last week because of the redecorating season and art selling season is Spring and Fall. I'm an interior decorator ( or was) and spring is Really busy.

I've made four times what I made last April, so I'm not doing so bad. Still operating at a loss for the month, but it's better than last April. My sales usually pick up in May.

There are no dead months.
There are some high selling periods for seasonal items and there is the biggest sales period before the december holidays.

For the rest it all depends on you.
- the uniqueness, quality and desirability of your products
- the way your present them
- how well they can be found in searches (your use of keywords)
- and how you bring customers to your shop, or: your marketing plan and your marketing/promoting efforts

I sold 4 items this month, which is pretty good.....I keep up with team work...
