International Return?

I'm stumped in what to do with an order shipped to Slovakia. It was returned to me and the buyer assumes I'll just reship it. It looks like it made it to the country but could not go further. There was no reason for return on the package. Anyone have advise on how to proceed?

If there is tracking see if the information tells you anything. Then contact the buyer and have the him/her re-confirm the address.

If the item was on the expensive side they might have gotten sticker shock when they saw the duties that were due. and refused the package. Europe (and surprisingly Canada) have ridiculous duty on some types of merchandise.

Have you called the US Post Office 800 number to see if they can shed any light? If you shipped Priority Mail they should have some info. I only ship Priority Mail international for this reason.

Also, some international countries require a local phone number of the addressee, might that have been the issue? Have you checked the regulations for Slovakia on the USPS web page and made sure the goods weren't prohibited?

If you can't figure out why it was returned, I would not reship it, I would refund the money including shipping and chalk it up to the cost of international business.

Update: Customer seems rather bothered that I would be concerned shipping again with so many questions. I'm thinking I might suggest refunding the whole order. It's hard when a customer doesn't realize I'm just trying to do what might be best.
